VDC saved my life

I was doing the 60K service on my mother's G Sedan (it's an 03, and it's rarely driven...) and decided after finishing to make sure it was fit for her to drive.

My test drive went bad after about 15 minutes. Went onto a very curvy back road near her house I had driven a few times, but I guess that her shi**y all season tires couldn't keep up. I started to fishtail, corrected, but the shoulder was gravel which became grass the more I oversteered. There was a tree line a few feet from the road.

Thankfully, I left the VDC on and it brought her back in like a pro. As far as I can tell, no damage done . VERY lucky, and very thankful for the VDC system on these cars. I can only imagine what an ATTESA equipped car can do.

Another reminder: please use a quality tire. She has a mismatched set of fuzions and mastercrafts on the car, and the rears are mastercrafts. The MCs are laughable. I may be used to the sticky Conti's on my coupe, but I this could have been prevented with a better tire (and yes, a lighter foot ). I will talk to her and my father later this week about purchasing a better set of tires.

EDIT: This was the 2nd save using VDC in this car. Previous time was during X-Mas and was rushing to get my father's medication to the hospital when passed out. Took a corner too hot when it was raining and it brought the car right back in line.

Sounds like a man needs to learn his limitations.

"Your life may depend on what's between you and the road!" This thread is a good example of that plus driving with your common sense turned off!

I keep my VDC on all the time, but I've never had it "save my life" I know what my car can do & I know what it can't learn ur limits & vdc won't have to step in.

Ok guys... recap:

I wasn't driving my coupe. It was my mother's sedan.

VDC was on.

I avoided many trees because of this feature.

I turned mine off once in the rain and ended up spinning out turning left at an intersection

Yeah, I turned mine off when it was raining the other day. Took off from a corner and when I popped 2nd, it let go. VDC was off, fish-tailed a couple times and did a 180. Did a humbled 3-point turn and continued on my way.

I really need to get some practice in the rain with VDC off to learn how to drift it a bit.

I normally turn it off every time I start my car, but had somewhat of a close call this morning on a canyon run and ended up turning it on for the rest of the way. Although I find it annoying to have it on all the time, it certainly helps keep the car on the road.

OP thats whats VDC's for. To save you when you screwed up.

People who turn it off are idiots. Unless they are on the track

VDC is never really fully off when you press the button. I always turn it off whenever I get in the car. Had it off and took a corner at around 50 and you can feel VDC kick in even though it says it's off. Having it on all the time just feels like it way too sensitive to like everything. Especially since my tires are crap brand tires that I'm just waiting to change soon. It's annoying when you're at a stop light and you try to go, but then your tires start to slip and VDC kicks in -___-. Especially in the rain even when I try starting up really slow then people in back honk at me lolo. It has more power if you have it semi off too doesn't it?

I guess if you really want to turn it off all the way you can hold down the VDC button.

Sorry, I know how to drive. I don't need a computer to do it for me. Like prinny said, It's never fully off unless you do the mod anyways. The car feels sluggish and the VDC over corrects for the slightest situation.

I bought as RWD car for a reason....

I understand some people like to cruise around like grandpa, and thats fine. No reason to call someone an idiot. I'm not trying to drift around town, it's just to intrusive for my taste.
