You can make minor changes to get a bit more gas mileage but you really aren't going to get much more doing weight reduction or other mods, this car simply isn't designed for that purpose. If it truly is this big of a deal to you, you may actually want to consider getting a beater car or trading cars.
Thanks I have a better insite but when you refer to minor changes what would these minor changes be?

I'm really not sure what the point of this entire thread is. You're not going to get good mileage with a G35 no matter what you do. If it's really that important, then buy a car that gets good mileage. But don't spend money trying to make this one more efficient, the math simply doesn't work out. As I said before, even modest changes will have minimal impact on mileage, and spending any real money means you have to drive tens of thousands of miles to recover that investment. Is it really worth owning a G35 for that long when you can't actually enjoy driving it?

Keep your car empty of non-essential items, keep your tires properly inflated, keep your windows up even in hot weather (A/C is more efficient than windows down), don't accelerate or decelerate quickly, and use cruise control on the highways.

BTW, putting 18's on your car makes it heavier, not lighter. Unless you plan on buying forged wheels, larger cast wheels weigh more than smaller ones. And no, the difference is not made up because 18" tires have less rubber in them than 17's. Metal is heavier than rubber. That's why serious drag racers here run with 15's or 16's. And if you're buying forged wheels to save money on gas, well, perhaps a basic course in economics is in order.

you could buy taller tires to change the gearing..
it would look stupid, but would lower rpm on the highway
or if you have a 6mt, you could put in the 3.3 auto diff to do the same thing

the more aggressive the sound the car makes, the less fuel efficient the car will be. Why, cause you'll want to mash the pedal all the time. That, my friend will be the cause of less efficiency with the mods you are putting on. I've been there and i didn't even have test pipes.... just plenum and hks muffler.
