Our vq motors' potential

hi y'all,

over the weekend i went to check out two g35 coupes i was interested in buying to keep and mod as a toy car while i sell my coupe to collect some cash for a future infiniti... anyway the 2 cars i was looking at were very high mileage and i was wondering what everyone's opinions are for the max miles our engines could take before needing replacement...

the 1st car i looked at was a 2003, 1 owner, with 252k miles on the odometer - i told the owner he would need to replace the motor soon but he said it still drives like new and i did test drive it and it does feel similar to mine,

the 2nd car i looked at was a 2003, 2 owner, with 185k miles on the odometer - mostly highway miles as well

thanx lmk,

VQ are very reliable motors. If looked after they can creep up to 400k limit and some I'm sure go over it with ease. Most of the time problem is not with a motor, but with gaskets, they start leaking way before motor goes belly up.

My cousin owned a maxima with 390k on it's VQ motor, and it ran very strong when he sold it.

There are members on the forum with over 300k miles on their Gs as well

Yeah man as long as it has a clean title and the owner has kept up on the regular maintenance, the high mileage shouldn't even be much of an issue.

Wow. Good to know that at 54k, my G is still just in its infancy.
