g35 vs s2000 trackday
well me and my friend are going to the track tomorrow i have 04 g35 5at with nismo exhaust.plenum spacer art pipes and churches tb spacer . my friend has a 2005 s2000 with exhaust and intake i think headers not sure. were both pretty good drivers but what you think the outcome will be?? i launch around 2250rpm and get good traction
Track day as in laps, not drag right? I doubt you'll keep up with him, but it can depend on the track. You'd have an advantage on long straights, but won't stand a chance in the turns.

I think we all know how it's going to end... even in the straight. By the time you get your legs under you it'll be over- then again driven properly the odds even out.
But a 5AT with no transgo? Your shifts will be sloppy and depending on what kind of rubber you're wearing... if you're stock "down there" any dig you have will be wasted in smoke and noise. The extra 5-600lbs (or more) or so that you carry won't help as well as the fact that he's 6AT with a motor that shifts more like the HR. If his trans shifts in a more spirited fashion than ours does between 1-2-3... you're in trouble. His first is probably a lower gearing as well. If you were running a 3.9 FD you might stand a chance but on stock rubber it wouldn't matter anyway because it'd just be a smoke show.
It's kind of a David vs Goliath scenario and will eventually even out. David might win out on the battlefield but Goliath probably wins in the bedroom.
I'm not saying you'll get destroyed... in fact you might even take it- either straight or laps... Popular opinion is it'll be up to the driver because the weaknesses are compensated by contrasting strengths. I'm interested to see how it goes down! Make us proud! We need some G love.
