Do you really need to change your brakes?

Why all the hassle??? When the brake pad wears so the contact surface is getting close to the wear indicator, you know you're going to need new brake pads very soon. Simple!

^True but not all pads have wear indicators. I only bought the car last year and havn't had to look or change mine yet.

I cheaped out on my last car (beater Protege5) and bought shitty pads online that didn't have wear indicators so I had to keep a constant eye on them.
