Severe Loss of Power and CEL light on After Clutch Replacement

I had my clutch and flywheel replaced and as soon as I turned on my car I could feel a severe lack of power, the check engine light came on and there was a sqeaking coming from my brakes. It revs up really slowly taking 2 seconds to rev to 5000rpm in neutral. The shop isn't taking any responsibility for it but they said they'd take a look at it. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if they made a common mistake

Also if the shop isn't able to take care of it what should I do? They're implying that since I don't have any proof that the vehicle was operational before that I can't hold them to the damage

Pretty much what I've done. My clutch needed to be replaced so I had to have it towed there. There's a small chance that they don't believe that they damaged it, but I'm pretty sure they know what they did.

you can file a claim with the BAR, burro of auto repair, and they can help you out. im not really sure on the process but i know they are out there. and as far as the power loss i am wondering if you have anything done to your exhaust? its possible that they did not damage the vehicle however a casualty that came about at the same time as the r&r of your clutch. a power loss like that sounds like a catalytic converter collapsing but thats a guess.

No I don't have anything done to my exhaust but he did mention the only thing he did to the car that could have screwed anything up was unplugging/ re plugging the O2 sensors but that they made sure it was done right. I'm hoping that this guy honestly believes the car was screwed up before I brought it to him and that he didn't do anything.

i personally dont think that an unplugged o2 sensor could cause a power loss like that, mainly because i am running no down stream o2 sensors right now and i have no problems. in fact about 2 weeks ago there was a huge tire in the middle of the 805 and i hit it at 70mph and thankfully the only damage i came across was ripping the plastic under plate off and not so luckily ripped out the down stream o2 sensor on the driver side. i mean literally ripped it out and i have no power loss. if you honestly think there is an issue with the o2 sensors you could try pulling them out and cleaning the threads on them as well as the threads in their prospective ports. its possible that the one they removed has a bad ground.

Thanks for taking the time to post that man. Im glad to hear that you weren't injured and the damage wasnt more extensive! Could've been brutal at 70.
