taking strut apart
Trying to help a friend with their car, I've always just bolted on spring compressors and impacted the top nut off. Rarely would i have to use a hex, torx or whatever.
Until now.... This nut loosen a little but now is spinning along with the shaft. I unloaded some of the tension and did it by hand with a 17mm box end and pliers/vice grips. Nothing doing. Sprayed tons of PB blaster. Still wont come off. No torch on hand but with it being soaked with PB blaster, not sure if its a good idea anyways.
I put it back on the car and tried to remove it with the body holding it together, still spinning.
The rod just spins with the nut. I tried to pick up this tool...
sadly it wasn't the rod was thicker then any of the sizes.

Telcoman
I had this same problem and ended up having to Dremel the nuts off on both of them.
I've used PB Blaster with a torch before and it hasn't caused an issue. Now, if you spray the bottle AT the torch then you're in for some serious problems. It just makes a tiny little flame if that when you hit the bolt with a torch.
