hummin in front diff.

i recently bout a 06 g35x with a broken front drive shaft, which bcuz the diff is bolted to the upper oil pan also has a hairline crack in the lip of the pan and down bout an inch, plus a few other issues from the shaft slappin around in there, i temporarily sealed the pan to get it on the road, its still not registered but i took it for a spin after installing the new shaft from wholesaleimports, and was hearing a low humming noise other wise the motor and trans feel great, also have the traction light on but no codes except o2 sensor, any theories on the humming would b appretiated, i do plan on replacing the pan or having it welded but since the driverside cv shaft goes thru the pan via a pipe wit so orings from wut i saw i tryna wait for better weather
plz any ideas or suggestions may help

Do you have fluid in the differential?

Humming in the front can be the diff, but could also be the wheel bearings which is a common problem on the AWD G35's. They tend to go early and make a humming/vibration when they are bad.

Cross your fingers that it's not the diff, as it's a PITA to replace.

Traction control (VDC light) being on will not generate a code via the OBD2 diagnostic port. You'll need a Consult-II to get those codes. Is the ABS light on as well? Could be a yaw sensor or ABS wheel sensor but no way to know unless you read that specific set of codes.
