Intelligent key issue

I have an issue that hopefully someone can help me with. My G sat for a while before I gave it to my girlfriend on an already tired battery with no tender attached. Last week I replaced the battery when I replaced my radiator fans and the car will no longer recognize the intelligent key fob. Yes, I put a new battery in the fob so I wonder if the key needs to be re-programmed or if there's another issue going on here.

The doors unlock fine and the car runs great with the hard key from the fob, but after a lot of research there doesn't seem to be much information out there dealing with this specific issue. TIA for any and all help.

Check the obvious first, make sure the battery is installed with correct polarity It might be in backwards.

The battery is correct, the weird thing is when I jumped the dead battery to get the car started the I key worked fine. Got the trunk open to get tools, took the battery out and had it tested, it was toast, bought a new one and installed it. No luck with the I key after that. Everything else in the car works great, even took out for a 30 minute test drive and all was well.

That's wierd, just for ***** try disconnecting the 12v battery for 10min or so, door lights on to drain residual voltage, remove battery from the key fob again. Then install 12v, install fob batt, something may have just glitched in the computer for the vehicle (security trip or something??) or the key fob. I don't know exactly what could have happened though, if the EEPROM was wiped from a voltage surge during the jump start it would have lost ALL settings, not just security stuff unless it's handled by a separate computer (engine and body computers??).

The fob and car talk back and forth to each other if you have a intelligent key, any request from the fob is sent to the car and then confirmation back to the fob and vice versa, I have a gut feeling that it's going to need reprogrammed from the dealer though. I know SOME vehicles require a secondary 12v system be present during battery changes, my buddies Maserati had to have a 12v booster pack hooked up to the battery terminals so power was NEVER completely disconnected because of the same sort of issues arising.

I figured out the issue!! Now I try to be diligent and double check my work whenever I work on one of my cars but I'm not perfect. Pulled the remote fob apart to make sure everything lined up correctly because I replaced the #2032 battery when I replaced the car battery and damn if I didn't take the protective cover off of it. Doh!!!!!

All is well with Amanda just in time because the GF is about to be her new mama.
