California's new exhaust law

so.. one of my friends just sent me this about a new law that's in California

Thanks to the kids doing burnsouts ,racing in public streets and "takeovers"

It's a $1,000 fine..
it's no longer a fix it ticket
And you get state reff...

Anyone else heard about this in California?
Therea always been a law about bot having cats, muffler deletes but it's never been such a huge deal till now i guess..

Sounds like the solution is to weld in a tiny muffler that does absolutely nothing.

The harleys here in Los Angeles are so loud I can hear from 5 blocks away
I dont even think its fair at all even if your car is stock and a cop says it's too loud you get the $1000 fine

How about we give Jack a call and tell him how we feel about what is subjectively loud.

Maybe they get a decibel meter and put it out the end of the exhaust and not just go on FEELZ!

If you mean that in reference to bullet point # 1, that may not be sufficient. I don't believe that list means that all (3) points have to be applicable, but more a case of 1 or 2 or 3.

On a related note, the "G/Z/GT-R" Facebook group for people in my area have members that are (jokingly) considering selling their stock exhaust systems to folks in CA who have replaced theirs with likely now "illegal" systems and threw out their original, stock systems.

If you live in California you must check out all the new 2019 Traffic laws and what it will cost you if you get a violation! First violation for talking/holding your cell while driving is only $76 but modified exhaust is (are you sitting down) $1K! This was caused by individuals doing videos of them doing donuts or burn outs on public streets! Our new Liberal governor needs these extra $$ to run his Socialist government in Sacramento!

Its one of those things. If you are douchebag loud (Harley with straight pipes) I think they will gladly ticket those people. Not people not being dicks in a normal day in the middle of nowhere.

Harley's are ridiculous. Loud pipes are so dumb (motorcycle lover here).

Stuff like this is why I have no respect for authority and tend to utterly disregard laws after a quick cop-and-safety spot check.
