VDC off SLIP - Steering Angle circuit. Sure or probable?
VDC off SLIP - Steering Angle circuit. Sure or probable?
2004 G35X 204,000 miles.
When first starting up, no warning lights. Begin to move forward ABS grab spontaneously again and again and then it throws the VDC off and SLIP light and I'm good to go.
Pulled the code at Auto Zone and it came up with Steering Angle Sensor. Does this sound like the correct diagnosis? Not a cheap fix so want to be sure I'm on the right track.
thanks

Exactly what code did it throw? They look like P#### or B#### or C####
You can temporarily disable the VDC relay to make the car driveable, it's the black box mounted to the wheel well right in front of the brake fluid reservoir. Remove the three harnesses that are plugged into it. This will disable your anti lock brakes, the car will know it's unplugged though so you will be throwing other codes as well.

Yeah I would replace the steering angle sensor AND the spiral cable. If you've got the whole assembly off you might as well replace both especially with how prone the spiral cable is to failing on these cars.
If you're really good with your match marks you can get it reinstalled and NOT require a steering angle sensor recalibration, otherwise it's a trip to Nissan for a recalibration.
