Greetings .. my g35 2007 year model .. I press start button I fires up and runs for 5-10 seconds and dies. I repeat process and it stays running. My local shop replaced fuel pump but continues same problem.. also many times my slip indicator will come on and I must turn off car and restart to hopefully eliminate this . Car has 140000 miles on it.. local mechanic says he thinks the sound of timing chain requires changed. I ask if this is common at 140 k. Miles. LSt time I drove car it refused to start or even engage starter. Headlights stayed on dash lights also as I recall. Could not jump w battery pack. Towed to shop and when they got it there it started fine and has each time since. I am studying the posts on chat sights to try to diagnose. Both cam sensors were replaced because the check engine light had been on for ever. Seems like my problems started after changing the sensors. What advice can you plz help with ty in advance. Is the CEL (check engine light) on? Are there any codes given when hooked up to a code reader? Were the cam sensors OEM or aftermarket? Aftermarket cam and crank sensors are known to not work. Check the ground and battery connections. Don't be throwing parts on it and wasting your money. Have a good mechanic diagnose the problem or go to the dealer and have them run a diagnostic test.

 

yes check light is on. Thank you for your response!!! I appreciate all.. I have a Napa best quality they deal relay to replace current starter relay . Finding nothing to cross reference they ordered same relay Napa offered for blower motor. In my mind if no more fail starts then was a relay blip . If more no start events then I point finger at a starter needing changed out possibly. Now to address the sensors yes after market which I do understand are not the correct pen needed so the cam sensors will need done again with Orem although I don’t believe that could cause a no start issue. Plz correct me if I am mistaken!!! The push button start is another issue. I push and maybe st most 2 seconds car runs then I must repeat and car runs . A new aftermarket fuel pump was installed but continues same after that . I do understand the injection system needing pressure etc so I am wondering if injector is leaking down. This false start happens after the car has run and been stop for a short while thanks again!!

 

1. at this point in time I swapped out relays between the brain box buried beside battery and the fuse box holding blower motor relay. I have not had any failed starts since then and also my blower motor does operate fine as it also did before. Check engine light on again but have not had opportunity to diagnose yet. Infinity shop told me if a security issue between key fob and receiver it would not be intermittent. I assume ck engine light is from after market cam sensors I will continue forward and post findings thanks to all !!!
