I had this problem, first they replaced some gaskets, then they tried it again, finally they just gave me a new gas tank and so far on 1000 miles no problems at all.

Angry

I took my car to the dealer (see above post) and they said they cannot replicate the problem. I've been to 3 different gas stations, and the problem with filling the tank happened at all three stations. The dealership is claiming that the "new" pumps sometimes carry remnants of gas fumes in there that signal the pump to shut off, so the problem lies with the pumps and not my car. The dealer only put in $1 worth of gas though.. probably not enough to assess the situation. Arrrrrrgghhhh

I just started experiencing the same problem about 4000 miles ago. I got to a point where I could only fill to a 1/4 tank before shutting off. It's gotten better in the last few weeks, but now when I fill up, my needle does not go all the way to F. Guess I need to schedule an appt as well.

Wow, you guys sure resurrected this from the GRAVE! I can see why those posters in June of 2003 were posting this but since there is a TSB on this, I'm wondering why you guys bringing this thread back to life

My wife's '04 FX35 also has this problem, and it seem to be worse than my coupe's. Pretty annoying. Something about Infiniti gas tanks I guess.

well good to know im not the only one with this prblem! I noticed this happenening a coupe times but onyl at a Hess station - I havent had this problem anywhere else. I noticed that lifting the nozzle and squeezing at half strength kind of alleviates the issue at times - but this has only happened twice in 6k miles so its not that much of an issue

I just got my '04 coupe back from the dealer with the same problem. Of course, the typical thing happened -- they filled it up without a problem.

I read this trick on these boards and it worked really well for me with pumps that were causing me trouble. Try rotating the handel of the pump a 1/4 turn clockwise then pump. Turn it to like 8/9 o'clock. It should fill and turn off when it is full.

I have had this same problem but it's been intermittant, unfortunately it has been happening more often than not, so i'm glad i found the TSB and am going to get it to the dealer and get it hopefully taken care , BTW i tried just about every possible combination of ways to fill the tank, turn the nozzle, hold the spring loaded filler back, hold the lever 1/2 way...... none of them worked for me.
Good luck to everyone ,MikeVG

Do what I did, move to NJ where someone else has to fill up your tank for you, and just keep telling him it isnt full, untill he gets enough in there to get it full, and while your waiting you can finish that report due on Fri, or weave a basket, or maybe even learn Japanese.
