^There are a lot of cars in different classes that are faster than both the G and Z. The G35 is not a sports car. I would say the Z is because it was actually designed from the ground up for performance.

Actually the G/Z is the fastest V6 in its years, the only thing that i can think of that can beat it is the E46 M3 (2001-2006)

The G sits in the luxo sport category with a few other notables like the BMW 3 series and the Audi A's. It's not a slow car for its category, but it's category in itself shouldn't be considered "fast cars" because the main idea is luxury with a feeling of sport, which the G does very well. Sedan or 2+2 coupes with nice creature comforts without a huge focus on sporting intentions, hence the weight. You wouldn't put a G35 sedan against a C5ZO6 because you know the C5 is a "fast car" which was made to do that.

The 350Z was actually made as a good all-around sportscar, and it's a very good car for that. It holds its own pretty well against the Boxster, Cayman, and I believe even the S2000 and Z4 were considered competitors for the car.

The G and Z share alot of components, but their aims were completely different.

^ Second that. My 2007 has 315 HP and is pretty damn quick. Faster than a Audi A4, faster than a Acura TL, faster than a Lexus IS350, faster than all BMW 3 series with the exception of the 335il, faster than most NA cars except for Mustang GT, Camaro and Corvette. OK there is the Porshe, Ferrari, Masaratti, Bentley, Lamborghni, Aston ... if you have $100K extra. THIS IS A FAST CAR. The most HP you can get in a sedan which is also practical as a daily driver, has some luxury features and is good value for what you get!

no stock g is faster then the IS350

G has never been slow for its class, but I wouldn't call it a fast car when compared to fast cars

you get pinned to the back of the seat and pee your pants when someone goes wot in a g...lol

its not slow for a street car

the cobalt ss/tc, ms3, wrx, srt-4 etc are all faster then V35s

Here is my complaints list on a 2007 G35x. Still love the car.

1. Agree that the paint is too easily scratched (too soft)
2. The carpeting is too cheap
3. The fuel consumption is on the heavy side
4. The transmission dip stick is bolted down and hard to access. Whats up with that?
5. The interior arm rests scratch easily
6. The windows all shut by turning the key in the drivers door lock but not the moonroof - come on.
7. The front grille is plasticized chrome. On a car of tis caliper make it real chrome
8. Real lack of storage space inside the car
9. Location of snow switch between heated seat buttons is too readily accessable and too easy to turn on accidentally
10. As is typical with nearly all cars why the heck are controls for the moonroof up on the roof of the car. They are hard to access while driving.
11. There are these black fill in pieces on the front bumper on each side that are like corrogated rubber or something that should have been done much nicer

That's it!

I'll check car and driver test reports and get back to you but I believe that the G35 did beat it on the 0-60 time. If I'm wrong then you can smack me around but I was looking at the 2007 IS350 and thought the G35 was faster.

That the rubber seal for the doors/windows are CHEAPER than the ones on a 2003 Toyota Celica. My 2006 already shows wear and tear. My bros 2003 Toyota Celica seals still looks perfect. The rubber is also thicker on the Toyota Celica and the window does not rattle like it does on the G.

(The 2003 Celica has the same frameless door glass).

OK. It's very close and you are right but not much.

2007 IS350 has a R&T time of 4.9 and 13.5 in the 1/4, but Lexus themselves gave it 5.3 and 14.2 in the 1/4

2007 G35 Sedan at R&T was 5.3 and 13.8 in the 1/4

The Lexus is more expensive though and not as sporty of a feel.
