He may have succumbed to injuries from hitting the barriers, or he may have succumbed to heart failure. Could have been any number is things.

Only thing to do on arrival is try to the best of your ability to help, just like your friend did..........kudos to him(and his friend) for their effort.

good thing you all had enough sense to help him out. most people would be rubbernecking instead of trying to help.

You guys did the right thing and should be applauded. I work in a busy ER and always here stories about "...everybody just kept passing by without stopping!"

I think if there's a pulse, you dont' pump the heart, but if there's no breath or compression of the chest, then you would still do the breathing.
Also, if one has a pulse they have circulation. Check breathing 1st, and provide "rescue breathing" until medics arrive. Think ABC's: airway, breathing, circulation. Just food for thought

I remember seeing ahorrible accident a few years ago involving a good friend of mine in his Spec-V. the quickness that I slammed on the brakes in my altima still has tire marks on the Interstate. 3 other cars stopped too. Somehow both my friends made it out alive. one walked out of the car himself, and the other was thrown from it, but somehow survived with very minor injuries for the kind of crash it was
