Service Engine soon

So my service engine soon light is on. All fluids good etc.

Seems to be running fine, good temp good pwr etc.

I called infiniti and they say that only they can reset it NO MATTER WHAT even if it was just the gas cap not being fully tightened.

The car has 30k miles if that has anything to do with it.

I think it is stupid if I seriously have to drive 2 hrs one way to get the light reset even if its someting silly like gas cap.

Anyway, any information would be great!

Try an ECU reset yourself.....they're found here---https://g35driver.com/forums/faq-diy/6538-ecu-resets.html

I suspect you've received a large dose of BS from your local friendly Infiniti dealer! Any good code reader or scanner should be able to identify the code, clear it and the SES light as long as the source is no longer present.

yeh figured infiniti rep was full of ****

went by autozone, guy had an obdII reader

code was p0102
books says can be one of 4 things all involving either loose or cracked hose causing vaccum leak or a loose throttle body or something else pertaining to intake.

Im gonna inspect tomorrow in daylight see if I see any hoses loose, anyone had similiar issue?

Ok, a new observation.....I could just be im paranoid now and noticing really minute things since my SEL came on a few days back but...

This morning i took the car for a spin, SEL is still off (whoopie) I did a run through 1st and 2nd to about 6000rpm and after I had let off I could smell a slight burnt smell that lasted about a 1/4 mile and it went away.

Later i ran from 3k in 3rd to 5500 in 4th and shifted to sixth and again smelled a slight burn smell for a few seconds.....

Anyone ever observed this?

Im not sure what it could be really, im not slipping the clutch enough to burn it I doubt only other thing is at high rpms if more fuel is being dumped cause of variable cam timing stuff then suddenly I let off throttle and it doesnt immediately slow fuel rate could I get the smell from excessive fuel dump??

Thanks again for any input
