Scratched my G35c

Yesterday when leaving the parking garage that I park in, as I was rounding a corner and another car was coming on the outside of the curve. I slowed down and turned in slightly to make sure we cleared each other, but it was a little too close and I caught the back end of car against the corner of the wall.

It is not pretty.

I have a few questions, since I've never had body work done before.

1. How much should I be expecting to pay to have this fixed up?

2. Should I go with the body shop Infinity uses or try and find an independant body shop? I'm more worried about the paint matching than anything else. The dents are pretty minor and shouldn't be a problem for anyone to fix.

3. Does anyone know any good body work shops in the Baltimore area?

Some of the scratches don't go through all the paint layers but a few of them do, especially right at the edge of the wheel well. The dents are pretty small, maybe 1/8"-3/8" deep. Not really noticeable unless you run your hand over it, but the scratches are awful.

Probably not less than $500 for a quality job. I would expect to pay around $600-$800, but that's in socal. It might vary in your area.

i remember seeing a product on tv a while ago, it was like a liquid polisher that seals and repair/cover scratches. it showed a car that was keyed on and when the dude applied the stuff, it rubbed off or covered up the keyed part. worht a search on the net, that stuff was like 30-40 dollars i think.

look kinda convincing, but i dont always trust what they sell on tv.

Unless i am seeing wrong but, it looks like you also got a dent as well my friend. Actually similar situation happened to me once when i had my 3000gt. But anyways you're looking about somewhere $350.-$500. to get that fixed. Take it to a good bodyshop and ask them first how much can they do it for that's if you pay them cash, instead of going through insurance. Also either ways they'll have to paint the whole panel therefore make it very clear with them that make sure the color blends with rest of the car.

When talking to the shop, be sure they plan to fix the probelm spot and then reclear the entire panel at a minimum. Otherwise, YOU will stull be able to find the repair.

I agree. $500 is about what I paid when I grazed the rear of the same wheel-opening (while backing into a garage). It got scuffed and dented the arch along the wheel-opening, making a repair a necessity.

I've gotten 3 estimates so far. One was from an Infiniti dealership body shop. The second was from a an independent shop, and the third from an independent that the other Infiniti in the area sends their cars to.

1 - $1089
2 - $725
3 - $1000

I'm going to get two or three more estimates before I decide to take it somewhere.

This is going to be much more than I thought it would.
