Factory anti-theft? Alarm?

03 5at here.

Ok. So when the dealer was trying to program a new key to my car, they somehow set off an alarm, which consisted of at least a horn pulse, I dont remember if any lights were on. They said it had something to do with the key being used in the door to turn on the alarm... This was the first I had seen of any alarm.

But now I cant get it to come back on. Not using the remote, not using the key in the door.

Does my vehicle have a factory alarm? There is an LED in the dash area near the clock / climate display. Ive tried everything I can think of to get the alarm to sound but can not. Meaning tried everything to turn on the alarm, reached in and unlocked the door from the handle and opened, etc....

just lock your car up with the windows down. wait like 30 seconds and unlock the door from the inside... the alarm should now be going off.

i think when u lock the doors the light should go solid. then after 30 sec the alarm should be fully active and the light begins to flash.

your solid light should start blinking after 30 seconds or so, telling you that the alarm is armed. if your l.e.d. never starts blinking, you have a problem. you can try basically the same thing as you tried before...turn the car off, remove the key from the ignition, arm the alarm with the remote while sitting in the car. if and when your l.e.d. starts blinking, unlock the door manually and try to exit the car. your alarm should go off. if your l.e.d. does not blink, you need to take your car in.
