The infamous "clicking rear g's".... Don't worry about it! Infiniti knows about it, and they'll cover it. All that Infiniti has to do to get rid of the clicking noise is regrease the rear axles. THATS IT! In doing so though, Infiniti replaces all the axle bolts, which is why in most cases it takes a day or two for you to get your car back (they often dont have the bolts in stock). Could they reuse your old bolts and give that car back to you in one hour, yea, but Infiniti feals bolts on a axle, since they're always exposed to such high amounts of force / torque, should be replaced upon removal, and I agree. Could you get away with using your stock bolt instead of new ones without problems, 99% positive you could, but for Infiniti it's not worth it. Its there way they cover their rears (no pun intended).

The clicking noise is also NOTHING dangerous or anything to worry about in terms of will your axle break or come apart. Its just a really annoying defect (not enough grease from the factory), that has a really easy cure, but when you're at the mercy of the dealership for a warranty job, nothing is fast and easy....

Yep, I have an 03 auto and had it fixed about 2 years ago. They just re-lubed the rear axle. No problems since.

The sound almost always (if you have the problem) happens between fwd and rvs shifts, like when you're going to back into a parking lot or when you're trying to do a quick K-turn. Its sudden changes from fwd to rvs that start the clicking. The clicking is also almost never heard at cruising speeds above 20 MPH. It's most evident at crawling, or parking lot speeds under 15 MPH. If you're hearing clicking at higher speeds above 25-35 MPH, its quite possibly a more serious problem, and you should have it looked at. The clicking noise is also very "tin-like" or "pick-sounding" and not "dead-hard" or raw (which you would get from lets say a bad bearing), which would be signs of something more serious. Best advice, if anyone has any unnusual sound coming from the rear of the car, take it in for service ASAP.

Yep this is the issue I was having on the 04 sedan as mentioned in a prior thread which is auto. I also had this issue on the my old 03' coupe. I'm bringing in the sedan sometime this month to get the prob. resolved.
