G-Squad & PJ's Fund Raiser!?!?
Hey fellow G'sters...
Its been quite around here so I figured I would see if there was any interest in another meet?
We've all pretty much gotten together to show off our G's, meet with each other in person and to share ideas, mods and suggestions, but have we really done much to help others as a group or give back something to those less fortunate than us. With that in mind, I was recently approched by a represenative from the local hospital in Norwalk, CT. She wanted to know if we (Papa Johns Pizza) could help them out with some pizzas for the kids whom are in the hospital. Before she could even finish with her setence I said sure, it would be my pleasure. With that, we're going to be delivering two dozen pizzas on Tuesday the hospital. The're expecting only a few, but I figured I would surprise them a bit.
Now I was thinking, and its just an idea, a G meet here at Papa J's, where we would collect $5-$10 per person atending, and the proceeds would ALL go to purchase toys, ballons, and gifts for these little guys in the hospital. I would be happy to donate the food and beverages for the day, and host the event on my lot as well my neighbors. Together we could easily fit some 75+ G's. The toys, balloons and whatnot I have access to through my co-op with Papa John's. We get these things dirt cheap at below wholesale prices, as its all non-for-profit. I would then like to setup a day, most likely approx a week later from the meet (have to get in all the goodies shipped in) and then we all or whom ever can attend show up at the hospital and give it all away. Having a connection at the hospital, I'm certain we could pull it off, and come on, who would turn down free stuff for the kids?
The local paper, The Hour, has been following our activity with the local community very closely, and we've been in the paper twice already in just two weeks. From our grand opening to our involvement with the local health centers annual fair (we donated $500 worth of food), and I'm sure I could get them to come out to the meet and take some pics and write all about the G-Squad and Papa John's working together for a good cause. I will also send a letter to News 12, which by the way is down the street of me (the CT headquaters), and let them know about the event as well.
So, once again, this is just an idea I wanted to run by all of you. Sundays work great as its quite around here, but I'm open for suggestions and or your thoughts. Distance wise, we're not too far away from NYC. On average its a 30-40min drive from the bridges, and we're only minutes off I95.
What do you guys think? Who's in? The G-Squad & Papa John's Pizza Fund Raiser! Free Pizza, good people, loads of G's, and best of all - bring some joy into a kids life who's going through a hard time...

Wow - Way to go G-Squad!
I'm so happy we'll be able to do this! I was thinking of Sunday the 26th, the Sunday after fathers days. It'll be $5 per person, and I'll leave a donation box in the store for anyone who would like to chip anything more. At the end of the day, we'll give it a count and I'll post it up. Then what I'll do is post up the prices of the various items I have access too from Papa John's such as balloons, frisbees, lunch boxes, plush toys, fold up camping chairs, tote bags, and various other gift items (once again all at below wholesale pricing) and we can as a group decide what to do with the funds and what to get. It'll take about a week to get everything in, and once in we can set another date to deliver the toys and gifts to the hospial. I also have a "Mr Slice costume" which is a slice of pizza you wear, and ONE LUCKY G-Squad member will get to be MR SLICE who will be doing the actual handing out of the gifts.
I'll have the details all sorted out by tomorrow evening. Thanks for all the responses so far!
