I need some more juice!

O.k guys I have a 05 6mt coupe and I am feeling the need to add a bit more juice to my engine. Not looking for a huge jump in horse power; however, would be satisfied with about 25 t0 35HP more with added torque. My budget is about $1500 for parts. What are the parts I should buy to get me there? After my research this is what I come up with so far...

1)MREV
2)Z-Tube and K&N Filter
3)(crawford)New Plenum or Spacer aka intake manifold
4)Cold Air Intake...(is this the same as crawford plenum?)

Do these parts I listed above get me what I'm looking for? If not, what do you guys suggest and in what order?

Thanks!

On 05 6MT ZTube/K&N Filter is useless (Not much power/sound difference) You don't need the Crawford Plenum if you're going with Mrev. MRev come with spacer already.

Better do this first for NA.
1) Mrev+ or Mrev2
2) exhaust System (Headers -> HFC or Test Pipe -> exhaust)

I'm a bit confused...you say I won't need the plenum spacer if I get the mrev2;but, it clearly says here that it's recommended.

Here is the discription for Mrev 2 on everythingg35.com..."The power gains on a 298hp REV-Up motor are similar to the earlier MREV kits, when used with a 5/16" spacer kit. The 5/16" Spacer is recommended for the REV-Up engines as it will help safely increase power, when used with the MREV2 collector. This setup averages 15+hp and 18+ft.lbs in the upper midrange (approx 4500-5000rpms). Many independent tests have shown even higher gains as well!"

/\ I haven't gotten my self updated with NA stuff but as far as I know Mrev2 is just another modified Lower collector just like Mrev+. to max every power Mrev2 or Mrev+ plus a spacer does the trick. If you just buy the Mrev kit this already come with the spacer. MREV2 was develop so that Non-Revup motor can take advantage of the new lower collector but it still work with Revup motor also. Like I said I haven't looked at NA stuff.

O.k I did some more research and found out that I will not need MREV2. From what I understood it's for previous year manifolds. Bear with me I'm not a mechanic. Anyway, I can stay with the Mrev that comes w/the plenum spacer which will probably give me about 15-18hp. Or I can just get the Motordyne 5/16" Iso Thermal Plenum Spacer Kit, which in turn will just give 11-13HP. Probably save me about $250 if I take that route. Not much of difference in HP. Then I add a true dual exhaust-11-15hp, w/ the Injen Cold Airintake kit another 8-11hp, and grounding wire kit-3hp. All that under $1700 with an increase of about 35HP give or take. I think I can swing that!

It's going to cost you quite a bit more than $1.7k to realize a 35hp gain.

Ok, spacer alone will not yield any power for us Revup Motor. Mrev was introduce because Spacer alone don't do squat for us. your best bet is just get the MREV Kit and call it a day. Exhaust won't give you that kind of power don't use Rice Math in terms of HP gain on these bolt-on (excuse my French ), the only mod that can get you a decent power/tq is a Headers (Crawford in particular) but that will run you 1400+ just for install and Headers for around 11-18whp. if you get all those mod that you're planning to get (Exhaust, intake, grounding kit..) you'll be lucky to actually get 20whp out of them. Mrev HP is not peak but under the curve so it is not some thing you see on paper.

Understood...Although, I thought upgrading the Exhaust would get you more HP. I'm just trying to get a bang for my buck. I'd be happy if I can get up to 20HP for under 2k. Headers sounds like the way to go, but, I'll have to wait on that. Using the rest of the money for exterior mods.

You can count the hp 'gains' from an intake or exhaust or spacer all day long, but the only mod you're actually going to feel are the Crawford headers. The stock intake with Z tube is already maxed out, and you don't need an exhaust with an N/A setup. While you're at it, get the Crawford cats too, or straight pipes. You can find a set of used Crawford headers and cats and have them installed all for under $1800.

not gunna happen my headers cost around 500 and that was done as a favor crawford headers are too big and the engine needs to be lifted out of the car plus his headers are 1200 i believe and his hi flo cats are 500 so right there its 1700 add on another 800-1000 for install

I guess you missed the used part. Here is a personal friend of mine selling his Crawford headers for $750:

https://g35driver.com/forums/archived-sales/99269-fs-crawford-headers.html

You can pick up a set of Crawford cats for $350 used, the install at my local Infiniti dealer is around $600-700 (essentially the cat install will be for free). That's a total of $1700-1800.
