AT Check and SES Light?

Tonight as I was commuting home, I attempted to put the transmission into manual mode with no response and then made two more attempts but still remained in the auto mode. I pulled over and turned off the ignition and started the car again and the AT Check light flashed on the dash and then it went out. I pulled away and tried the manual mode again without success. At the next red light I turned off the ignition again and restarted and was expecting the AT Check light but instead got the Service Engine light. Pulling away from the light I tried the manual mode again and it worked but the SES light remains on. Has anyone had this happen and is it mileage related? The car doesn't drive or respond any differently now that I can utilize the manual mode but this is a first for me. The car has 64K and I'm wondering if this is a programmed function so I'd appreciate any comments before I bring it in for service. Thanks

The trans fluid has been changed once and I'm ready for the second change but not sure it's why I got the AT Check light. There is no grinding, it just wouldn't go into the manual mode for the first time since I've owned the car. Let's see what happens tomorrow.

My AT tranny crapped out at 2k. All i did was pull away from a toll booth and poof there goes the tranny. Didnt beat on it or anything.

Now at 14k and i still have tranny issues. It acts up once in a while when in manual mode.

I would take it to the dealer see what happens.

Update: Two days later, the SES light went out on it's own, no AT Check light and no issues in MM mode. Am I driving Christine? It's still going in for service; trans flush, coolant and rear dif and the drive belts.

my g just did same thing but i was set cruising @ 80mph on I10 then my tranny clanked and rpms went down and no response when throttle pushed. i took to dealer and they said i had 2 tranny codes and bvoth of them were electrical, they told me to come back when they got the parts for my rocking drivers seat, anyways, i go back tomorrow but i think i will just end up getting new tranny. mine shifts hard and sometimes my tcs light and slip light come on and stay on while driving and the tcs button loses all tension and doesnt do anything. anyone had that happen? update you with what dealer says tomorrow
