i lost control of vehicle and slammed into a retaining wall, the wall has no damage, but my car does.

1st time accident
no other parties involved
most likely 100% my fault

i have a few questions....
what is a ballpark estimate?
should i get a police report?
should i go through ins?

I wonder since no cop or any witness saw.... if you could call your insurance and say someone hit you!! (going pretty fast it seemed lol) when it was parked and you found your car all ****ed up like that... my friend did that when his dumbass backed into a pole and it worked.. but I dont know if it would work in your case ^_^

Except they might be able to tell he hit a wall and then he'd be up for insurance fraud.

How about he does what he says and man up to a driving error and not commit insurance fraud (a felony).

You make the mistake, you pay the price, simple as that and props to you for admitting that.

If you report it as your doing.. doesnt it go on your record that you had an "accident" that was your fault? Even though you didnt hit anyone...

Anytime you get an "accident" on your record, insurance premiums go up because you are a riskier driver.

Just something to think about...

Best advice! If I were in your situation, I'd just go through the insurance company and pay the deductable. If you know a good shop thats willing, I would order aftermarket parts and have them put it on. Some places will mark up the price that they give the insurance company on their service to cover your deductable. The insurance company writes the check to you not the body shop. Hope this helps Good luck man!
