I respond only because you addressed me specifically. To be clear, I take it point by point.

Quote: Gee, I see your point, but there was absolutely NO need to turn George's thread into a pi$$ing contest.
It's funny you see it that way. I made an observation (with my initial response), no name calling, nothing specific. Barely more than a single sentence. He comes back with a paragraph about how he doesn't care and calls me gramps - incorrectly associating responsibility with age. I know 16 year olds with more responsibility than was displayed in this video, so I respond in kind.

Funny thing, the guy a couple of posts down from my original post quotes me word for word and agrees with me, but doesn't earn a retort at all. I guess I hit a nerve and the OP cares more than he originally stated. If he really didn't care, he would have let my first response go - there was nothing in it to really get excited about, and that would have been the end of it.

You made your point already, cut it out like a grown up man instead of acting like the forum policeman and making false assumptions. I am against racing around on public boards where the driver exposes anyone but themselves to danger, but it's obvious you have no clue about the roads in Homestead, or you would know that 'farm country' is a rather well-fitting description of what's there. Don't make it sound like he was on a residential street with houses on both sides and kids running around.
Lets talk about false assumptions. If you read my responses, which is doubtful after reading your post, you'd already know that I do know the roads in Homestead very well. I grew up there, went to school there, met my wife there, and joined the military there. When someone says Homestead farmland to me, I think of the Redlands. If you're looking for places to speed test, you can find them, this guy didn't. Lets scrutinize the video a bit.

- Farmland doesn't have marked crosswalks. There are two school zones or crossing zones clearly marked on the right side of the street, very close together right at the beginning of the run. On the left side, by the crossing zones, there is a chain link fence (also consistent with the area surrounding a neighborhood school). Not accusing, just making observations. I wasn't sure, so I said nothing. Definitely not what I associate with "farmland..."
- Farmland doesn't have overhead signs. I can't make out exactly what it is, but close to the area with the crosswalks there is an overhead traffic signal or sign of some sort. To me, it looks like the flashing overheads you'd see at a school zone, but I can't be sure, so I said nothing.
- Farmland doesn't have intersecting sidestreets. At least, not very closely spaced together. I stopped counting at two. One on the right, then another on the left. Both occur within the course of the video, so lets assume the whole run was less than a mile.
- Farmland, in general, isn't landscaped residential.

Farmland? Nice try, but I don't think so. There is plenty of farmland in Homestead, but this isn't it. To try to pass it off as such tells me the OP is being defensive. Defensive behavior and "I don't care what you say" don't mix.

And contrary to another assumption of yours, George is a super cool, down-to-earth guy and he's the last person to have a 'look at me attitude'. Why react as if he was the first person ever to post pictures and videos of their car? One of a handful fully-built ones on this forum, no less?
1 - Super cool people don't run down public streets at 80+ with one hand running between the shifter and the steering wheel while the other hand holds a camera. Do you really associate the two that way? If you're gonna do this kind of thing and have ANY hope of avoiding an accident should something happen, this definitely isn't the way to do it. To me, it stank of irresponsibility. The fact that you defend it speaks volumes. Think about it.

2 - The "look at me" comment stemmed from yet another illogical (and repetitive) assumption by the OP that I'm jealous because of his mods. The comment "I can afford it and you can't" reeks of vanity and self-concern. Additionally, it's completely incorrect. I can afford any modification I choose. If the OP had thought a minute he'd have realized that he knows nothing about me or my financial situation. Besides, rich people are some of the dumbest people I know. Money doesn't equal intelligence or responsibility, does it? I never mentioned his mods, only his behavior. Again, he raised it, I called him on it.

How many 18-year-olds has this forum witnessed that have posted vids of high speed fly-by's to 'show off' their exhaust or intake? Can't we just get along?
Of course we can get along. I get along with many people here and I'm sure the OP does as well. I call bull$hit where I see it. This is bull$hit. If it hits a nerve and pisses you off, maybe it's because you know you were doing silly $hit and got called on it. The thread, on the part of the OP, is filled with false assumptions (I don't know the area, I can't afford 'his' level of car) and name calling (f@g, gramps, etc) None of his assumptions are based in fact and are incorrect, yet you accuse me of making false assumptions. Hilarious. I'd be interested to know what my 'false assumptions' are.

On my side, I made a comment, was seconded by another member, and then was set upon by the OP. If anyone turned this thread into a pis$ing contest, your super-cool down-to-earth friend shares at least half the blame.

He repeatedly said he didn't care about the responses he received (here and in the thread carrying the video) yet spent post after post defending himself. If, as he states, he doesn't care, why bother?

Again, I posted here again only because you addressed me specifically. I had already (as you state) 'manned up' and let the thread go. This isn't meant to stir the pot, only to address the points you mention.
