Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone with a 5AT has tried this method of shifting: when your in MM if your flooring it and as soon as you shift u let go of the gas and then reapply it seems to shift much quicker then just leaving your foot on the throttle.

I feel like theres a difference, i dunno if anyone has tried this but the gears shift almost instantly. It took me a lot of practice to get it right but once you know the timing it seems to work great, has anyone else tried this? is it good, bad, or really doesn't make a difference?

 

ive done that a bunch of times...just dont like getting out of first with that method..its really rough...but yeah you're right it does seem to upshift faster and it just feels cooler...but just get gordgees kit...will shift instantly..

yeah you should give it a try, at first it might be tough but its almost like you can feel a certain point when the car goes into neutral and you let go of the gas and then instantly reapply it, but like diablo said, it can get rough, but you got a q45 tranny what are you worried about =p

yes it does shift quicker but out of first its a bitch. i rather just hold the gas haha or get grounding kits

There have been many debates about which method works better - keeping it floored, easing off a bit, or letting off entirely.

When I'm running in manual mode, I don't floor the car. I accelerate aggressively, but I find the car feels slower if I bury it. This has also been discussed extensively. As I approach redline, I simply bump the stick and hold a steady throttle. The delay is barely measurable and when you learn to time it right you'll never hit the limiter. It works very well.

Others swear by grounding kits. I haven't explored a grounding kit because I don't drive my G like a race car. 1/10th second difference between shifts isn't going to ruin my day, and is hardly going to make a newsworthy difference in a 1/4 time.
