Spoiler?

Hello...past lurker & first time poster. I have done quite a bit of research on this vehicle and must say this forum is a great reference. I am currently looking at purchasing a G35C 5AT and have decided on the DG/G premium pkg. However, I keep flip-flopping on the rear spoiler. I have seen the DG with and without and can't make up my mind which looks the best. Unfortunately the local dealer has not had two at the same time to compare side-by-side. I am currently leaning towards going without. It seems to me that the darker colors look sleeker without and the lighter colors look sportier with. Anyone out there wish they had gone the other way after you made the decision? I'm not looking for a vehicle to add a bunch of mods to or to race. I just love the sport-luxury look of this beauty!

Re: Spoiler?

Well that's a mixed decision. I saw the factory spoiler and knew right away I didn't want it. There are several alternatives with pictures on this forum. One thing I have found out about cars is that if you have to convince yourself that you like it, then chances are you won't. For example, when I first saw the coupe, it was love at first sight.

Re: Spoiler?

There are very large camps here in favor of all three alternatives: with, without, or aftermarket. Go with what you like. I personally wouldn't put a spoiler on my black G if you paid me, but I think it looks pretty good on a red G. The one anti-spoiler thing I'll say is that the cars on the road I see with spoilers as noticeable as the G's tend to be Mustangs, WRXs, Evos, or completely inappropriate FWD cars. Most of the high end cars either go no spoiler or have a lip. But that doesn't mean winged G35s can't change the trend.

Re: Spoiler?

I like the veilside wing...kinda huge I know, but I like the way it looks...maybe I'll start a GB...just waiting to see it arrive in the states...

Re: Spoiler?

I'd say go for the aftermarket one even if you really want a spoiler, i think the aftermarket spoiler looks way better than the stock... (you can research in the forum on aftermarket spoiler, there are tons of them) wel, it's your car and your money, do what you like the most...

Re: Spoiler?

I think without the spoiler the G35 sedans kind of look like Altimas.

Re: Spoiler?

Good insight 1bern. Thanks all for the comments...very helpful. I think I'll go without and add later if I'm feeling remorse.

Re: Spoiler?

I got the spoiler option and I liked it the first few months, but from some angles it doesn’t look good, when you look at it from behind it looks good. But now I think the G looks better without the spoiler, looks cleaner.

Personally I wish that I didn't get the spoiler but I'll have to live with it.

Re: Spoiler?

Yeah, at first before i get my G, and was searching about each car that i could possibly get, i love the G35 Coupe with the Spoiler, and i think if i got it at that time i will get the spoiler with no doubt... However, after doing research on aftermarket spoiler and 5 month later when i actually ordered my car, i decided to go without it (even though my salesman offered me one for free, i convert it to a free lifetime oil change after)... At first i like the G better with the spoiler, but right now, the G without the spoiler really does grow on me, it looks better after you have seen it for awhile, in the other hand, the love of the stock spoiler just quietly fade away... anywayz, i think i'd still get an aftermarket one though, Gialla Corsa and Data System's spoiler both looks great and still deciding which one to get... (anyone got their Illusion Spoiler yet? i'd like to see more pix of it)

Re: Spoiler?

Personally, I think that the Gialla Spoiler is the cleanest spoiler out on the market. Just kinda irks me that it cost so much. But, guess you have to pay for quality.

Re: Spoiler?

Does anyone know if you can get the factory spoiler and later replace it with the Nismo spoiler? I realize the Impul lip spoiler won't cover the spot where the factory spoiler was.

I thought about getting an aftermarket spoiler installed, but didn't want the useless brake light leftover if I got the coupe w/o factory spoiler.

Re: Spoiler?

I think the factory spoiler makes the G look aggressive when view at an angle and from behind. Personally I think it adds to the look!

Re: Spoiler?

2 things:

1) The spoiler makes opening and closing the trunk EASY!

2) If you decide not to get the factory spoiler, PLEASE don't get an aftermarket one - those things are hideous.
