I have talked to the local Infiniti dealer about NAVi, and they said a wiring harness for the G's with Nav are completely different then those without. They used the words "not possible."

I, and others on this forum, don't believe in that term and put in an aftermarked Nav unit. I don't know your level of electrical knowledge, but you may be better off getting a seperate unit instead of the whole console.

My dos pesos . . .

seemed to good to be true, cause just buying these units off ebay is quite cheap.... "not possible" sounds quite definite, i guess i can also ask my stealership and see what they say

I, too, asked my dealer and they wouldn't install it. You can go the StreetDeck route or with the pioneer GPS units.

I remember posing this question when I was going to buy my 06 and they told me that nav is something that you need to get with the car out of the factory unless you were going aftermarket.

"Not possible" was simply a challenge. Anythings possible, you just have to know what your doing.

that's why I had to call someone else . . .

NOT AT ALL POSSIBLE!

the auction for that unit is never ever going to work. No DVD rom, No harness = impossible x 2. After you spend hundreds more locating those two parts, you're going to worry about wiring then up and making it work perfect. Don't buy it, not worth your time/money go another route.

I wouldn't believe the dealer. It would be substantially more costly for Infiniti to maintain and install 2 different wiring harnesses for cars with/without Nav. I'd be more inclined to believe that the harnesses are the same, with several plug-ins for the Nav. This would certainly be the case if the Nav were a port installed option - in that case the harnesses are the same. Anybody know if the Nav is a port installed option?

As socal said, you still need the dvd-rom that sits above the glove compartment and a harness at the very least---Time consuming and likely expensive. Why not purchase a double din conversion kit and get a pioneer aftermarket nav?--that would look nice, cost less, and be easier to do. While the oem nav is a nice feature to have, mine hiccups and other aftermarket navs are more advanced and perform better than oem imo...

its definitely possible if you get all the parts, but it'll take you a long time. i think im actually up for the challenge, if anyone has a navi screen, dvd, or anything related to the navigation system that they're not using, PM me. I'm interested in buying.
