Hello , okay so me and my girlfriend were in a rush to get somewhere by 9:45, so i was speeding , i took a wrong turn , she said " forget it don't speed lets turn back home , you scared me when u speed." I'm said sorry. So we turn back home and theres this 03' 745i next to me,were driving next to eachother for a lil , then we merge onto 80 east in NJ and he goes into the fast lane and guns it , im still in the middle lane , i didnt want to step on the gas cuz i remembered what my GF told me, he was now a good 20 feet a head , i couldnt let this opportunity pass me by so i gunned my car, i couldnt catch up to him at first , he wasnt getting away from me either, my girlfriend was begging me to slow down but i didnt hear her , i was focused on catching up to the BMW. Then he turns into his middle lane and breaks alittle cuz theirs a slight turn in the road , thats when i break a lil but my car can handle it better , i looked at my spedometer it read 130 and thats when i passed him, my girlfiend was almost like crying so i slowed down and he sped by again. I told her sorry , im like fine let mr. bmw go , fine. Then she said " WELL SORRY MY FRIEND JUST DIED WITH HER BOYFRIEND IN A CAR ACCIDENT 3 DAYS AGO" i had forgot about it completely and it made me feel really bad. Her friend was driving with her boyfriend and they crashed , he lived and she died. Sad ;[

Anyone race a 745i tho? Can somneone tell me what happened if u did so, thanx

i have a feeling the 745 would take the G...My father has a 1998 740iL, and that thing moves, i can just imagine what .5 more litres and 5 years of more technology can do for that car.

 

Oh yeah, they'll take us out easily-- great cars. I love the G, but I know the 7-series isn't a sleeping dog. I have only encountered two, and both times the driver looked me in the eye and gave me an enthusiastic thumbs-up as we passed. I tend to like the 7-series and M5 drivers better than the 3-series ones. I know this is a blatant generalization, but stereotyped get started for a reason... the 3-series is "I'm trying to be in an elite class of Bimmers", the 7-series is "I appreciate a good car". A G will shame a 330i, but no one other than Merc and Bimmer can do the 5-7 size with that precision. Just my opinion...

I have raced an E500, S500 and a 745, none of which won. I can assure you that our cars are much more capable in the twisties as well. On flat out acceleration, the german cars were quick and close, but in the end, they saw my tail lights.

However, if you don't beat them off the line, just kiss victory goodbye. They pull hard once they rev up. I'd also give them the nod for better passing power due to the torque.

bmw's are quick for 0-60 due to their max tq comes earlier than us and really tall 1st and 2nd gear ratios and 3rd, 4th, and 5th are basically saving gas gears... at least that's how i felt after driving my uncle's 740... and one thing i really hate about bmw is really low redline except of m3... i think 7series of bmw redline is like at 5.5k... and what's the point of massive tq if we can bring up to 5.5k rpm?? too low to use all that tq<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small"><EM>Edited by uheenada on 09/29/03 08:00 PM.</EM></FONT></P>

It is really bad to do the speed demon thing with someone else in the car. I know of countless examples of people crashing and doing their SO in. I've even seen crashes where the guy kills his SO, then does himself after her family gets a hold of him. I just read an article today where one of the Atlanta Thrashers (Hockey team) crashed his Ferrari 360 in Buckhead, ejected his teammate and friend (who's at Grady Hospital with a crushed skull), etc..

Playing racerboy is a bad scene and you don't want any part of it - listen to your girlfriend.

My friend has a brand new 745i and I can assure you it would lose to the G. I have driven it and also raced it as well. It is very quick for a Tank size car but the G is faster. Especially off the line. Now the NEW 760i, that is another story. I sure it could put a hurtin on the G. AS for your girl man, my girl friend is the same way but she's a keeper and means well so I humor her and wait to do the stupid stuff till she's not in the car with me. He He, Peace.
