Code p1084-cam sensor failure

SES light was on for a couple of days, took to the dealer to have checked out and the tech said the camshaft position sensor failed--Has this happened to anyone else? Is it normal for these types of sensors to go bad after only 6k miles?

It took a couple of hours for the dealer to replace the sensor and the light is now off, but there was a loose bolt/washers in my engine bay that was just sitting there. Not sure if the tech forgot to pace it back or if it an extra Now I'm trying to figure out where the bolt is supposed to go if anywhere. Can anyway suggest what bolts might be taken off to swap out a cam position sensor? The bolt has a number 7 on it and there is a little yellow paint on the top. Here is a picture:

I've heard of the crank position sensor to go bad on a few G's, but not the cam sensor.... Glad you've got it fixed.

I don't recognize the bolt. No bolts I've come across on my G's have had yellow paint on them.

^^^Thanks for the input and reassurance. I'm hoping that bolt was just something extra laying around, but now I'm wondering if maybe it was a bolt for the grounding gear--I better go check those grounding points. Weird thing was I felt no difference/loss in performance when the ses light was on for the cam sensor failure, so I have my fingers crossed that everything will be fine now...

After checking codes, P1084 is: Fuel Control Mixture Rich (Bank 1 Sensor 1)---This was the code on my service printout, but the tech didn't say I was running rich--just that the cam sensor failed So is it likely that the cam sensor failure caused the engine to run rich to protect it and that why it threw the p1084 code, or is it possible that the dealership got it wrong and that the ses came on purely b/c the engine was running rich and nothing was wrong w/ the cam position sensor

Looks like the hold down bolt for sensor...
