Forgive me, for I should have stated the main reason I think the auto sucks is because it's not the rev up motor. Not only are the gear ratios working against it, but it has less power.....

also MPG is not a fair measure of efficiency, as we have already stated, the gear ratios are different. how could you have an accurate comparison of efficiency from two things that are almost complete opostite. Regardless, I don't think there is anything wrong with this guys car. The car works fine in 1st and 2nd, and sucks in third. Which goes almost perfectly hand in hand with the change in ratios.

I don't think anything is wrong with his car. Both guys need to take it to the drag strip, and get some trap speeds. Some cars are just slower than others.

I don't know, but I just saved over $300 on my car insurance from switching to Geico.

I'm 98% sure its your Y-pipe in conjunciton with not being tuned. If you keep those mods and want to see some power, you might have to look into something along the lines of a UTEC then a tune. Ditch the Y-pipe if your not going to get tuned and you will see some power.

Once you get it, sell the y-pipe. Its weird, a Y-pipe will add power to a stock car (3-5whp), headers will add some also (5-17whp -i know, big range), and so will high flow-cats or resonated test pipes (5-12), but a lot of times (unless all of the pieces are specifically designed and dyno tested/proven all together by the company) they rob power when used in conjunction without extra compensating (Tuning).

Example:

Stock car: 230rwhp
Stock car + headers: 243rwhp
Stock car + headers + Resonated Test Pipes: 239rwhp

In the end its all about the area under the curve (Driveability), and not peak power (braggin rights), but if the mods in conjunction lessen the area under the curve, and lower the peak number, you've lost out (maybe tuning will save you if your car is running lean). Best bet, hit a dyno, have them look at your Air/Fuel, if they say your running lean then you will need a tune.

Trust me, by no way does this suck. Keep the Fuji exhaust, just don't install the Y-pipe. Your learning by way of not making power, people who are FI'd learn they are running lean by blowing the engine up and having to start from scratch.

^+++thats what im saying a y pipe isnt that much of a diff if any at all. My mechanic DUCATI GUY knows cars and i trust his imput and he said y pipe isnt going to do much for my car and it will def not hurt it. its def my transmission or maybe i need a tune.

I don't think you would make much power with the Y-pipe and stock cats, I would think while the headers help the scaveging effect, the sudden change in diameter between the cats to the y-pipe, and y-pipe to the muffler would hinder the exhaust flow. If he goes and get the Fuji Y-pipe and Exhaust, and resonated high-flows, he might loose even more power, but if he does all that and gets lets say a UTEC and gets it tuned he will no longer be lean up top, and pick the power back up.
