Can someone be kind enough to explain to me "running lean up top" and "running lean"? What's that mean?
running lean means that theres too much air and not enough fuel going in... it leans out ur fuel... the opposite would be running rich

but if ur running really slow i'd do this..

change to synthetic oil... and most importantly, if u installed ur intake urself, or even had a shop do it, and its like one of the newer one peice injen intakes its possible that u damaged or dirtied ur MAS, which would make ur car not throw in very much fuel, especially at WOT... i'd search for a MAS cleaner and see how that works for u

it was from a roll on...i dunno if u read all the posts....but it was like a civic stock with 3 wheels racing a hyabusa** very imaginative** but u get the idea...we just went on a roll where he took off in front of me and then we wenti almost rolled thru his exhuast sytem and saw what kind of gas he was using in his car......but now he turned his car back 2 stock pretty much and his car is faster...there must of been something wrong with his car not reacting to modding...i think it was his crawford plenum....

he has 19's and i have 20"s
he has nismo intake i have aem
he has headers and y pipe i have jsut mufflers
he has coilovers i have springs
he had 10 wire ground kit i have 5 wire
he had crawford plenum i have painted engine cover...lol

it should of been much closer than what it was....its ok tho his next car is gunna be a factory animal....YOOOOOO wheres the S4???

They're in the 93-95mph range. A G35 6MT should see 98-99mph easily. MPH is the indication HP. ET is the indication of traction.

As for the new 2.5T WRXs, they are pretty stout, but they're not that much quicker than the old 2.0T models. I have a friend that totaled his 12.5 second 04 STi and he purchased an 06 WRX. In stock form is did a 14.1@95mph with a 1.85 60 foot. That's hardly impressive to neither him nor I. He added an STi turbo, turboback, injectors, and a piggyback ECU. With $2500 in mods, the car now runs a more respectable 12.9s@104mph.

thats very good infomation to consider, however as I mentioned, the time was rated against a 6mt, which meant on a 5AT he was driving should not be too surprised to lose against a stock WRX.

Either way it makes no sense to even be bothered by which gear he's losing by, he should have raced against the same car and see if it has a real problem. Other than that, there is not enough time in the world to find many cars faster than the G in different gears.

1st: Maybe he's loaded up all the mods on the front end, but not opened enough on the back end... I'd see what kind of difference it makes with HFCs; you won't see much gain cramming a ton of extra air in, if you can't get it out.

2nd: 6mt has higher hp, lower tq than AT. This means you may take off quicker, but he'll catch you in the long run.

3rd: Get a frickin tune. With the type of mods you have, you're really killing yourself without properly tuning it. You need to think about BALANCE. Too much backpressure makes intake mods useless, and not properly tuning the car means you're probably leaned out due to the extra air coming in, without adjusting the amount of fuel.

Edit: Heh, just noticed the date.

YEa its hard to see a stock or even lightly modded G35c to beat a WRX off the line, traction is to much of a problem espeically when WRX can lunch at such high RPMS and stick they r little rockets off the line, now from a rolling start ive stomped every wrx ive come across modded and stock.
