An alternative to our 6MT classic car key.....

Actually, I keep the flip key by itself, it's not attached to anything. The Clifford remote has a clip which I always use it to clip it to the inside of my pants pockets, that way the remote is actually hidden inside the pocket but I can still easily arm/disarm the car. I keep other keys with the clifford remote.
I'm hoping to have the flip key remote working in the near future so it's not just a useless prop. It won't be able control the viper alarm/(remote start) but I'd like to have atleast the oem functions on it. I'll start "operating" on the internals when my 2nd Mazda remote gets here.
As for which key, I asked for a Nissan/Infiniti key at home depot. They charged me $2 ea including cutting the teeth part. Not the handle part.
The Mazda already had a chip inside, I switched it with the infiniti chip.

I know this may sound too simple but has anyone tried switching out the frequency crystals from the g35 remote and just switching it to the mazda remote? Since all the g35 uses the same crystals couldn't we just switch it so that the mazda remote picks up the frequency that is attached to our cars.
I think making a production run of milled (casting wouldn't be practical unless there was a LOT of orders with down payments) aluminum housings to perfectly fit the circuit board+battery, and some simple way to make the keyblade retractable or spring loaded within the housing. Materials wouldn't be too much, tooling would last forever (on aluminum, anyway), and machining time would be dependent on number of different tools required (probably 4 or 5).
Also, the housings can be anodized or powdercoated. This would make assembly several times simpler (cut down costs), and most of the expenses would be to actually design and do prototypes and whatever the coating would cost if you wanted to coat it... though finely finished aluminum is very beautiful, in my book. But that can corrode, so meh.

Someone that purchased a mazda remote already should try this. It makes sense! If it's works, it'll save a lot of time and energy!

-First, it's a 8 pins vs 16 pins IC..., Physicially it's not going to fit.
-Secondly, it's not even the FHz, it's the digital decoding...., they both send out different set of codes.
Anyways, I think I should keep you guys updated...
My friend was away for a few days. He went back to Japan for a family visit.
He's coming back tonite... I'll get the mailing address for those of you who are still interested of doing the key mod.
