I was comming home from Jersey the other night and some guy in a black jetta was getting cute...he was tailgating me as if to taunt my to get it on!! Well we were doin about 60 and he gunned it to try go around me so i dropped it form 5th to 4th and nailed it..to my suprise he was pulling away by about a 2ft for a second but i reved it out to 6500 and slammed it to 5th. He was going strong with me but as i got up to the big numbers..at about abuck20 i pulled away and when i was at one40 he was about 10 cars behind..Im just wondering how he managed to almost get infront of me if the Jetta doesnt come close to the G's performance.I was alomst embarrased and that aint gonna happen!!!!!....Could it be serious mods????

 

He was gonna it while you downshifted, so you weren't going faster while he might have hit his high rpm [higher HP] but once you got back up then you nailed him.

Ya you downshift to 4th when your doing 80. Thats when 3rd redlines.

At the drags, I saw a jetta running 13.1 @ 107! It was a 1.8T and he had upgraded the turbo and intercooler. Don't underestimate anyone, there is always someone faster.

oh we underestimate jettas in stock form cuz we kill them no matter what... and upgraded turbo and intercooler is MAJOR MODS... and 13.1 with upgrade turbo and intercooler doesn't surprise me at all... seriously, how many out there with those mods?? and chances to see them??? and finally find out the chances you'll race with one of those MODS JETTAS on the streets?? i'm thinkin not that much...
