Im pretty sure its not just me, but i was wondering if i was the only one whos car did this. When i floor my car(in drive only, not im tiptronic) the a/c turns off, i can feel the air coming out of the vents get alot warmer. Is this to save engine power under heavy acceleration? , if not what is wrong with my car?

it will only do this if the ac controls arent on recirculate...when the outside air is let in, it comes in to fast and you feel it get hot.

 

but does this only happen under full throttle

 

From what I have heard and read - under full throttle the A/C cuts off to conserve power. Typically when the A/C is on - I think it robs about 5hp, but under ful-throttle the a/c cuts to give that power back.
