now this is a big problem....I need advice

I'm not going to lie it was my lazyness that started this, but here i go....my brakes were squeeking, so i guess it was time to get my breaks done, 04 6mt coupe, brembos. i call infiniti they say 220$ dollars but they cannot take my car for 2 weeks cause they are booked solid, my cousin he drives a z, jus got his brakes done at meniki right around the corner from his house and all you have to do is go in early and they do them in about 2 hours for 220 dollars. So i cancel my appointment with infiniti and take my car to meniki. I was really skepticle at first but the mechanics there seem to know what they are doing for the most part. So they cut my rotors, and replace my brakes. As soon as i leave, my brakes are squeeking even louder than before. So i take them back. they are really friendly over their so im friendly back. i ask why are my brakes still squeeking and they tell me that the brakes just need to settle. drive the car for a couple hundred miles and everything will be good. so i leave and 1200 miles later i still have the same squeek. now i go to infiniti and they tell me that the reason my brakes are squeeking is because my rotors were cut and brembo rotors are not to be cut. The sell me new pads and tell me to order new rotors too. so i go back to meiniki and they tell me that they will reimburseme for my brake job but they wont cover me for the rotors. BUt they messed them up. Meniki claims that the only rotors not to be cut are bmw, merceddes and high end cars. (i guess claiming that my infiniti isnt high end enough) The rotors come to 995 puls i would need new pads for 185 dollars so now i have to spend almost 1200 dolars to get my car back to normal. Does anyone know why the brembo rotors cannot be cut, and if anyone has any advice on what i should do please help me because it will be greatly appreciated, thanks

Spencer

Welcome to the world of Brembo Brakes.

Get the money back from meniki for your Brake Pads. Don't bother trying to get money for the rotors, they where likely shot to begin with. Brembo Calipers Eat rotors like they where candy covered.

Realize you are about to make an investment in your car and learn a lesson at the same time. BMW owners don't get that privilege. Go to www.imprtrp.com and order front and back rotors they where the cheapest I could find (near $330 front and back). Infiniti will charge double plus if you order them you can get slotted or drilled (add some bling if you want). Next look at each caliper, a lot of shops have a tendency to leave the retaining clip out when replacing Pads (it took me two times to realize this) It is a two inch cross shaped aluminum strip that contours under the pins, if it is missing your pads will actually gyrate under pressure and sound like a cat caught in lawnmower. They cost $18 from any Nissan dealership but come as a kit. Next do the brake job yourself; the most difficult part is breaking the nut on the rear wheels to replace the rotors. Be careful when handling the actual caliper, they are aluminum alloy and the metal is light and soft. Another gift from my Infiniti service dept. is they stripped the threads on the Caliper using an air tool and to replace it is $1200.

Once done check your pad life religiously, if you track your car or spend Wed. nights ripping up red lights check evens more.

It's not necessarily the Brembo Calipers but the pads that are being used that will eat up the rotors.

GHBG35 mentioned some solid points.
Checking pad life often, doing brakes yourself, etc.

As for turning rotors, yes. You CAN get them turned.
I think as long as there's no issues with the performance of the brakes themselves, i think the noise is a pad related issue.

Some pads are very noisy. Others quiet as hell.
The OEM pads were horrendous.
Noisey as much as they were dusty.

A set of Hawk HPS or Axxis pads is HIGHLY recommended.

Good luck...

i like slotted because you dont run the risk of cracking that can happen with poorly cross drilled rotors. If you pay get brembo or any other highend cross drilled rotor you will be fine

I have an '04 G35 6MT Sport Coupe. I have all Brembo Calipers & Cross Drilled Rotors Front and Rear. I'm an unable to install the Akebono Racing Pads because they are too thick for the Brembo Brakes. So, I had to go with the Nismo Racing pads. All 3 combinations worked great for me. I've noticed greater stopping ability and very quiet no squeaking. All installed by Infiniti. They have the knowledge and the right tools for the car.
