Demon Eye Headlights

These look nice from the one photo on EBay. Any feedback from people who HAVE them or something similar? Any pro's or cons compared to our HID's? I hate the yellow of my city lights and desperately want to upgrade...

they look kind of cool. i know that Umnitza is very popular with the BMW crowd. there are alot of different types of those Halos (Umnitza has about 3 different lines) you might want to check out the website and contacting them to see if they have a halo kit.

good luck!

City lights? What year is your coupe? These don't work with the 2006 projectors that have city lights.

Now, to answer some of your questions. I have them, put them in myself. It's a pretty big job, have to bake the headlight in the oven just to get it apart. Pro's or cons compared to HIDs? These are just the light rings that add to your existing headlights. You get Demon Eyes and HID together (if you have HIDs to begin with). OK, now maybe you're confusing the "clearance strip" with a city light if you have a pre-2006 coupe. In that case, the kit he's selling is the circles around the main lights. There is also a separate kit in that picture with a CCFL tube in the clearance strip. Yeah, it looks 1000 times better than a yellow bulb in the strip, but it doesn't really stand out as much as the Demon Eyes. If you just want to change the strip and skip the Demon Eyes, look at this DIY from PeteNJ who used an inexpensive over the counter CCFL kit. You can get them at computer stores like Fry's.

Hope that helps.
Curt

Thanks for the info Curt, your input helps.

I've got an 05 coupe. I want the Demon Eyes, AND the clearance strip to match color temps, like it does in the pic here

I guess city lights was the wrong term to use.
Seeing as I have the stock 05 headlight array, will I need to purchase HID bulbs to get the look in the photo? When you install these demon eyes, will the bulbs I have in there now still light up? I'm just imagining that if they do, the yellow light they emit will clash horribly with the cool blue color these Eyes emit.
How's it work Curt?

Edit : and sorry about posting this here, I just found the Exterior/Interior lights forum. I'm quite the n00b to these forums, please bear with me. heh

OK, if you've got an 05 coupe you should be fine for either or both of these mods.

Believe it or not, the headlights are not turned on in that photo. Just the demon eyes and the clearance strips. I'm assuming you're talking about the primary and fog bulbs when you talk about yellow light. Am I right? Your primary bulbs are 4300K HID (I think that's right) so they're pretty white. These demon eyes are almost pure white, but I think they have very little blue, so I don't feel they are all the way at 6000K. I guess they look just like very small florescent bulbs. I personally have 6000K HID bulbs, and I think they go together very well. Oh, and I feel that the clearance strips look a bit bluer than the demon eyes. I think it's due to shining through the thick piece of fluted plastic in the clearance strip.

How does it work. Easy, the demon eyes and the clearance strips are just "optional" lights in your headlights (same thing with the factory clearance strips, you could remove the bulbs and be perfectly legal, in CA at least). Be aware that they do not create enough light to drive by at night! You can have them turn on in the daytime (like I do, they're visible as a very white ring in full sunlight, and they look sweet at dusk without the headlights on), or even not turn on at night. Whatever you want. The rest of the headlight works just like normal. HIDs still work. Fogs still work. Turn signals still work (although I removed my ambers and replaced the bulbs so they only come on when blinking, not constant at night).

Oh, and don't worry about the post location this time. If the mods want to, they'll move it for you.

Pictures: demon eyes and clearance (notice the slight blue of the clearance), clear turn lens, demon eyes at night with the headlights on

That explained everything! Thanks dude.
I had no idea that these were not bright enough to drive by, I actually thought these were just cooler-looking alternatives. In any case, thanks for the help
