An Issue with having my clutch changed...

My G is squeaking when the clutch is depressed, sounds like you're walking on an old wood floor. Its really loud outside, but you barely hear it inside the car. Took it to the dealer who greased the forks, and siad if its still squeaking bring it back and they may change it.

Anyhow, my friend who's driven a few manual tranny vehicles claims that if I get a new clutch, the performance on my car wont be as good, and that the new clutch is not adviseable. I reassured him that it will be factory parts (its going to be changed at an infiniti dealer after all), but he still disagrees. He also believes the squeaking issue will not be resolved (a faulty throw-out bearing has been blamed by two mechanics as the cause of the squeak).

So what is your opinion about this? Practically, I would rather they change the clutch under warranty now instead of let it go and once the warranty dies out, my clutch suddenly blows out and i have to pay out of my pocket anyway. All, What are your opinions about this? thanks

LOL They aren't about to replace your clutch under warranty because it squeaks. Actually squeaking clutches aren't that uncommon, and the squeak can be easily stopped. Just take your car to the Dealer, and they will take care of the problem.

if it was just the clutch pedal needing grease, you wouldn't be able to hear from the outside, which he says his is louder from the outside than inside.

that is normal sound of the clutch on these cars...i think you are confusing a squeek and the flywheel spinning

i had the same thing. Dealership replaced the flywheel & press plate to fix it, they asked me if I wanted a new clutch put in for $100 for the part only, even though it was still good. I went ahead and did it. The loud squeak is gone now.
