if u wanted a fast car for around 35k you shouldve gotten an evo mr or a STi... i consider the G to be "fast enough" for everyday use.

are you guys serious??

300 hp and 14 sec on the 1.4 mile is not fast??? not to mention pretty good handling?

look at most cars on the market. How many cars do you see on the road every day that beat the G on the 1/4 or on the track??

Not very many. bout everywhere you drive 70% of the cars you see on the road you can pretty much smoke easily.

The G is fast.

The avg hp on the road are much much lower.

For the price there's only a handful of cars that beat the G.

I dont think there are THAT many car in that price bracket that beats in term of straight line speed. I think i couldnt safetly assume there are less than ten of cars (that are in the same price range) that beats it in a track race!

The OP never indicated anything about price. If you want to compare the G to others in it's price range, than I suppose you can deem it faster than most. In the grand scheme of automobile performance, the G just isn't that fast.

There is no question that the G offers a great combo of looks/performance/value.

There's more to acceleration potential than JUST power to weight. There's transmission gear ratios, for one, which is a BIG deal. Re-gear your G to top out at 115mph instead of 160 and see what kinda times you run.

For another, there's weight balance and drive wheels, which, given comparable tire grip, makes a big difference. If your car is a front wheel drive car, you want it to be front heavy for peak acceleration, but then it handles like crap. Most FWD cars will lose grip at the front wheels under hard acceleration -- that sucks. RWD cars like our Gs will throw weight back onto the drive wheels -- that's better.

Something like a Porsche 911 that is actually rear-biased in weight -- those things hook-up really well under hard acceleration. Extra weight in the back plus the acceleration transfer of weight to the rear == formula for quick acceleration.

So.. anyway.. just cuz an Altima SE-R has "reasonable" HP numbers and weighs a little less... does not mean it can beat a G35 MT. The Altima SE-R (stock) scores times (by most testers) in the 6.0-6.5s range. G35s MTs are listed in the 5.5-5.8s range. 1/4 mile? SE-R: 14.5-14.9, G35: 13.9-14.4. So, the SE-R is pretty quick for what it is, but it is not quicker than a G35, sorry, unless it is modded.

i dont kno mann i love my g and i definitly think its fast but for SER's to be able to keep up with us fuccin SUCKS even maxima's are close ..in my opinion the next coupe that comes out needs to be noticibly faster and thats the end of it..one of the biggest con's of ur coupes as we all know is how heavy it is...wheather it looses weight or pushes out more horsepower ..things need to change ASAP on the new model

1- I raced Audi S4 06 from 80mph to 140mph and i was in the front all the time, when we reached 140 he started to pull very hard on me.
2- I raced wrx modded with exhaust I was 3 cars ahead no joke, and he came to me ans said damn you car so fuking fast.
3- I raced srt4 neon (I think he was stock) i raced him from 40 to 100 and i was pulling hard on him.
4- I raced all kind of mustang GT and i beat them all( special the one with the intake over the hood i think it's a limited edition or something)
5- i beat down all the 3 series, but i didn't have the chance to race the coupe one.
6- I raced M3 e36 and i beat him also.
7-I raced many kind of civics and rsxs lool do you even call it race.
8- I raced transam with the LS1 engine 350hp, i got the jump then he started to pull on me really really slow. I think it's due to the gear ration.
9- What else humm... I raced many 350z and they can't beat me.

I got killed by, Z06, STI, M3, 350z with cams, wrx heavy modded,
This all what i remember so far.

First of all, altima se-rs are wayyyyyyy underrated from the factory because my friend had his dynoed with nothing but an injen cai and it brough 232hp to the wheels. Second off a regular altima 3.5 se is actually quicker then the se-r off the line becasue it has 17's instead of 18's, and 5speed vs 6speed. And lastly I ran my friends se-r quite a few times when my G was fresh outa the showroom, I didnt launch perfectly otherwise from a stop the G will outlaunch that car because of RWD>FWD, but besides my screwed up launch we were exactly even up until I threw 5th gear then i slowly pulled on him. Now that I can launch my car I quickly get him by 2 cars which is fun lol.

From a roll if both cars are at 3k rpms the altima will 100% pull on the G just becasue the power curve is different, not becasue its a faster car.
