VDC Bypass
VDC Bypass
So we have figured the VDC always has power to it since the default setting is on...so if you set up a bypass switch that can flip the power on/off then you can remote mount it easier than trying to relocate the VDC switch, anyone try this yet?

Re: VDC Bypass
I don't see how this is easier than re-mounting the switch, but if you want your VDC off, check out the kit i make at www.controlgenie.com/vdckit

Re: VDC Bypass
Fiddler's kit is one of the best mods that I've done so far !
It was extremely easy to install with the step by step illustrated instructions and I've had it for over a month and it works flawlessly. It is so nice to just get in the car and drive without having to remember to turn off that damn VDC. I like the "bad weather" switch that disables the device putting everything back to stock. I will have to turn on that switch very soon as the winter months are coming !

Re: VDC Bypass
why spend 80 bucks for what essentially a bypass switch does the same for at 1buck??? if you cut the power supply off to the switch then it does the same and u can run 2 wires to hook it up
Re: VDC Bypass
have you actually installed the switch or just thinking about it?
i'm wondering if actually cutting the power to the VDC switch stops the VDC from coming on at ignition....or would it still default to VDC on... just stop the switch from working.

Re: VDC Bypass
I sincerely doubt its that simple.... Regarding my Fiddler VDC bypass box, I mounted it under the dash on the drivers side. There is a spot there that suits it perfectly. It fits between a metal frame and the plastic under dash panel. I used a small piece if velcro to hold it in place. I can easily access the over-ride switch as well.

Re: VDC Bypass
The vdc switch does not have a "power supply" What it does is connect a wire to ground for the duration of the button press. (this is what most momentary type pushbuttons do in a car) This temporary ground tells the computer to toggle the state of VDC. So if you were to look at the wires that go to the switch, you'd see 2 wires for the backlight (12V and ground), a ground wire and a "floating" wire which is the one going back to whichever module controls vdc.
the only true bypass in any case would be to either disable the sensors (or cheat them), or remove the ABS fuse, but that disables all sorts of things it seems.

Re: VDC Bypass
It seems like a lot of work to bypass something that only requires a simple push to disable. It's part of my start up proceedure. Start the car, push the vdc button, turn the stereo on, buckle up and go.

Re: VDC Bypass
I prefer to leave it on unless I'm driving aggressively. You never know what other drivers are going to do, and I find that my reactions in panic situations aren't always as smart as my reactions when driving aggressively. Plus, my wife occassionally drives the car, so it's better if it defaults to on, since it may save her and my kids someday (and maybe as a side bonus, the car too).
That way, the system is only off when I want it off, and it's never off when I've simply forgotten about it.
