Re: Nervous! Girlfriend took the G!

My son borrowed my G for his high school homecoming dance and scraped the bottom all the way from the front wheel to the rear while he was picking up his date. It can't go into the body shop until next Monday so I'm sad while it is sleeping in the garage. The estimate is $2,000 --My son or my car? Hard choice but he's not going to drive it again for awhile.

He was pulling out of a circular driveway and didn't clear the cement planters, they were low and he claims he didn't see them. So why did you keep going? I asked--I didn't hear the scrape until after it happened--says he.

My wife is the primary driver of "our" G coupe. She has been driving our cars for well over ten years now. Has yet to come home with a door ding or scratched wheel. With her I never have to worry. I guess I can consider myself lucky!

i think it depends on the nature of your relationship with your gf. if she took your car and crashed it (knock on wood), would you break up with her or would you just be pissed off and it would pass? if you would break up with her, dont let her drive it.

Re: Nervous! Girlfriend took the G!

actually, i just read your post again and another bigger issue is that she decieved you. implying she will take care of moving a car is much different then actually taking your car instead of hers. damn, she did this while you werent feeling well either. when people lie about small things, it makes me wonder how truthful they are in bigger situations. since i have no idea what your relationship is like, i can only comment on what i see from the post...

MontrealCoupe has a good point. Don’t run out there and check your car right away. That, combined with all the phone calls really makes it seem like you don’t trust her. Wait ‘til she goes to the bathroom or something to check your car.

LOL, women are so much better at being sneaky than us men.

What you may call being sneaky I would call “avoiding an argument.” I’ve learned to pick my battles!

DING DING DING

First thing I thought. A head would be on a platter if this had happened with me and a gf. I mean, she would know how much this means to me, and if she's asked repeatedly to drive it in the past and I said "No, not yet", I would expect her to honor that. Especially when I'm sick-- There's never an acceptably time to take advantage of someone's incapacitated nature.

But that's just me

I understand that all too well and couldn't agree more. Many battles aren't worth the wounds and some are lost no matter how sound the argument.

first she drives it... the next thing you know, she'll be bringing food and drinks into it. lol that was pretty sly of her. i'll give her props for waiting until you were in a vulnerable state to get a shot at driving the car. give her the benefit of the doubt, but keep those fingers crossed in the meantime.

Re: Nervous! Girlfriend took the G!

ooooooooh myyy goodness. im scared for you bro. that sounds hella scary to me. my old prelude, my last car, was all screwed up by girls. its lowered...which might attribute to it, but anyways, i let a girl drive it, and she was goign to go off a curb...with a lowered car! i told her to stop and back up. she freaked becuase there was a car behind us in the parking lot waiting to go out and she went for it. stupid girl cracked my side moldings and left a mean scar on my car...still havent fixed it...it reminds me to never let a girl drive your car. never. never. oh yea, another time, a girl scraped my rims on the curb too. so i repeat, NEVER!.
