Don't be a ***** and tell her how you really feel. I would have been pissed off if my gf took my G.

Re: Nervous! Girlfriend took the G!

I love my girl ever so much. But I love my car as well. I basically judge my gal on the condition of her car. I look at the fact that it's always dirty, scratched, and in over all bad upkeep. Sure it's only a corrolla but what ever piece of junk I drove in the past I always took care of the best I could. **** you say? Yes indeed and it makes me shudder to see her car sometimes.

This leads me to believe that though she has many endearing traits, keeping a car in good condition is not one of them. We all have our priorities and she respects the fact that I want to keep mine in good condition.

However, I noticed even while riding in my car that to her it's A to B nothing less and so putting her feet on the dash, getting makup everywhere, tracking dirt on the floor, etc. are not biggies to her. Thus I made the decision that though I will most likely marry her for those other great attributes taking car of the cars will be one of mine.

Plus I bought a built in security device called a 6MT to prevent her from taking a joyride if she were to want ot decieve me. I don't think she would though.

The only thing that ever comes up is the "Honey, what if your bleeding out your eyes and I need to take you to the hospital?" For that reason I will teach her to drive a manual eventually.

Wow...I let my wife drive the car a couple of times but she HATED it!

She said "It's kinda jerky, when I step on the gas it sorta lurches forward in a jerky way. I think there's something wrong with it. Then I have to step on the brake and it jerks again. Maybe the brakes are too tight."

I just smiled and said "its a powerful car, takes some getting used to".

Re: Nervous! Girlfriend took the G!

LOL, this thread has kept me company all day...waitng for my G and GF to return

She called me an hour ago to tahnk me for letting her take the car. She said she should have been more understanding about my obsession with it and wanted to make sure I knew how much she appreciated it. She's a good girlffriend.

Then she said she was so thankful she went out at lunch to buy me a present (read: she wanted to drive the car some more) AND she got it washed...*gulp*

My first knee-jerk was to ask "my god I hope it was a touchless wash!!!!" I dont want some idiot at the quickie-wash to fubar my finish! Since she was being really nice and appreciative, I just let it go with a big "Thanks sweetie!"...now i'll be checking for scratches and dings.

Of course, my new aluminum pedals arrived today at around 3PM...of course they are all laid out with the thread from the DIY forum on installing them on the table waiting for the car to return...

when oh when will my G come back to me?

thanks for all your support here today, I felt like someone kidnapped my child, but you folks helped me see the humor in all of this.

I'm sorry, man... I really am. Perhaps your next girlfriend will be more understanding

Re: Nervous! Girlfriend took the G!

This was by far the funniest part of my day. I have yet to experience a relationship where my gf wanted to drive the G (Im only 16). So far, none of them have gotten there license yet, much less know how to drive stick. The "security device" called 6mt was a genius comment. I did have a break up over my obsession with the car, but it wasn't going to be a lasting relationship anyway. Most relationships at this age are for other things...

OMG!! I didn't reailze that this many people read the forums in a single day! I can't believe there have been that many posts on this one thread in ONE day! On my gosh! It hasn't even been 12 hours and it's already on the 4th page! Holy $@#&!!!
Anyway, getting to the point, I really think it depends on the driver. My GF drives my car all the time. And I'm totally fine with it. Actually, I encourage her to drive it during the weekdays when I'm at work and don't have time to drive it myself. I want her to break it in for me. But again, I emphasize it really depends on the driver. The first time I took it out for the night, after only having it for 2 weeks and only 200 miles on it, the valet scratched the right front lower fender! I was soooo pissed, still haven't heard back from their insurance agency.
It all depends on the driver.

I agree with GeoBau. My brother's wife took his car the other day (everyday beater). Next thing you know he said, she is calling him all sweet and lovey dovey. She put a hole in the front bumper, by hitting a POS pickup with a trailer hitch!

Let us know how it turned out and how you inspected. Like that guy in the RX8 commercial.

Re: Nervous! Girlfriend took the G!

I used to let my wife drive my first G35. It was a 5AT sedan. I had warned her about not parking close to anyone else, so she faithfully parked clear away from everyone else to avoid getting a door ding. Problem was that she had to park on the street and scratched a rim.

So, when I got the 2nd G after the first one was totalled, I got double insurance: the 6MT and an extra rim
