$55 PER TIRE to mount & balance on OEM 19's?

WTF? Did I just take on in the azz or is this standard pricing? That's over $1300 for tires and mounting!! I've got 26k on the car and probably had snows on for about 3k of that. That's $.057/mile in TIRES. I'm averaging $.14/mile in gas. This is insane.

I actually went to tire kingdom the other day to get quoted on a set of tires. I was actually looking a the directional michelin pilot sports, but then i was reading up about them and heard that the good year eagle F1 GS-D3 was a kick *** tire and everyone was talking about how great it was. So i went to tire kingdom and they wanted 260 per tire so i told them i would shop around a little bit. Went online to tire rack.com and got the same tire for $169. Waiting on them to get here but this tire shop down the road qouted me 25 a tire for balancing and mounting.

Careful where you guys get your tires mounted and balanced. Alot of shops don't have the necessary equipement/experience to mount a 19" tire safely without harming the finish. Getting cheap on the mounting could mean damaged rims which will end up costing more to refinish.

thats ****ty, I do all of that **** myself. My uncle owns a shop, so I can go do all that crap myself down there... But it does sound like you took a hard one...O well its not as bad as my friend who got 33" tires mounted balanced and the electronic air pressure thing on his new wheels for his hummer some place charged him 849 bucks.

The problem is the shops do the mounting and balancing on the customers. Many just accept it..... shop around.
