the isothermal gasket just isolates the tempertaure between the plenum and the intake manifold. Also, if it snows like once or twice a year, than its not cold enough to freeze your butterfly valve so if you really dont want to spend the extra money on the copper heater than dont. Its not necessary. the coolant control valve, open, heats the plenum when its cold out side. when its hot outside u close the valve.
