Can you run Mid-Grade gas?

the salesman at infiniti told me to run the lowest gas and as long as im consistent i will be okay

then i asked the tech guys and they said hell no

its not THAT much more for premium...just stay with 91 octane IMO

 

salesmen are stupid... they should put the tech guys out on the floor, they would sell more because they actually know what they are talking about

 

Run Shell V-Power 93 Octane and dont look back.

 

here in mass i can only find 87/89/93... so obviously i go for the 93. It's like 30 cents more, but it's good to know I won't ping or knock. Plus, it's good for the car

 

Definitely get the best one available...usually a 91 or 93 octane. The prices here in Illinois have dropped to almost 2.50 for premium so I've been so happy lately.

from the past i have ran mobile 1 synth. I have to have an oil change soon. Thinkin about getting reg oil. Is it ok? cause of price

 

A mechanic told me that once you switch to a synthetic, it's best to stay with it and not to change back to regular oil. I have no reason why although, I was going to ask my regular mechanic his opinion.

Anyone with more knowledge, I'd appreciate any opinions on this. I'm considering switching over to Mobil 1 and I would also like to know if switching back is possible.

 

Both of these subjects have been discussed throughly, i suggest you do a quick search, and decide for yourself if you want to switch or not.

 

Do the math. if you're trying to save money it's not going to save you that much in a year. it's usually 10 cents dfference between 91 and 93. so for a full tank you would save $2. if you fill up every 2 wks then you would save a $52 in a yr.

I use 91......dosen't really a question for me.

You should use the octane rating specify by the manufacturer, if using a higher/lower octane give you better results you need correct you fire timing in the engine.

Remember, higher octane is not more "explosive" or more "powerfull" it just light up sooner than a lower rating octane.

higher octane combusts later. lower octane is more susceptible to detonation. meaning higher octane ignites with spark timing and it won't knock as much.
