Spacer and Warranty

I am taking the G to the dealer on Monday for several issues, one of those is the constant pinging in low RPM's.

Has anybody had any problems with the stealership's reaction to a spacer. This is the only performance mod I have done so far.

The other issues:
Chassis squeaks when I get in and the rear axle click.

If you are worried about it, can't you just remove the spacer before taking the car to the dealership? I am sure it will not take more than an hour to remove the spacer. You can just put it back again when everything is done.

Well it happened, The dealer refused to run diagnostics on the car because I modified the engine!
The service rep called me and asked me what it was and what does it do?
I have to take it off and go back.

Spacer..............

So you let them know ahead of time you had the
spacer? With your engine cover on they might not
have noticed. I guess your better removing it for
the warranty.......LOL

No, I did not tell them, but the cover was off. They asked me where that was also.

I already got that! When I went to pick up the car, they said they could not find the chassis squeak I complained about.
I sat in the drivers seat, bounced up and down and whoops, there it is!

Now I am stuck driving a loaner for another day.

They are definately being jerks about the spacer. It is a non moving part that does not create wear or otherwise to other, waranted parts. Although I have not had my dealer perform my mods (do them myself), they have offerred and said the warranty would not be effected.

I dunno... I guess it really depends on how much difference the spacer makes in the detonation timing... It shouldn't, and there must be thousands of people with the spacer (and a whole lot more mods) on that haven't had any issues. Maybe you want to contact motordyne and see if they can help you out?

Anytime I think I need to go to the dealership, I do a look over of the car and make sure they have nothing to give me crap about... and I'm pretty much stock.

hope they fix it... but then again, if after you take off the spacer and the pinging goes away, then you really don't have many options. Hope it works out, either way.

It says on Motordyne's web site that it helps eliminate pinging.

The dealer told me today that the squeak I hear when getting into my car is the break cable rubbing on the chassis, it's normal!
