Hey guys, give u guys a lil back ground, I usually track my car once or twice a month...and i am just ADDICTED to it! When i am at the track i forget all my worries, leaving all the unhappiness behind! The point i want to make is every mod that i do to the car is because of one reason, TRACKING!
Anyways heres the thing, I am planning to do some mind mods to my car, Due to budget i have to choice one out of the two....I am either getting a bucket seat or a stiffer anti-roll bar...
The reason i want a bucket seat is because i am sliding everytime i make a turn, and its not easy drive at such high speed in turns and start sliding not the car but U!
Anyways..please gimme some suggestions!
Jason

sacrificing the seat for the bucket is kinda going all out.. that's a big change and worth some thinking over.. unless you're for sure you're going to be going all out or you're content with your mods as of right now and are willing to let go fully of the "luxury look" of the car.. then go for it.. i know it will help you in your situation.. I say try the stiffer bar for now.. and wear a "leather like" jacket next time you track (for less likely slipping around in your seat lol) and see where you want to go from there.
Many years ago I along with several of my friends would track our cars regularly, but what we did was to buy cars for the track. The last car that I tracked was an '88 911 which I was able to buy for $22K. It had lots of miles and both the interior and exterior weren't in good shape. In other words a perfect car for the track. The next step was to gut the interior, and add a racing seat. I was able to get that car's curb weight down to under 2900 lbs by removing everything that was easily removal.
Bottom line is that I would never take my daily commuter and convert it to a semi-track car. If you like the G35, look for an '03 in bad shape and do what I did to the Porsche.

If you plan on doing alot of track driving and its in your budget just get a dedicated tracker, I track my G 3-4 times a year and I don't have any problem with the seating, its not ideal but its adequate. If you can't get a dedicated track car I'd definitely do suspension work before a seat. You can get some 5 point harnesses and adapters to use in the G.
IMO, if you only track once/twice a month and drive the car most every other day..... keep your current seats and buy the anti-roll bar. Replacing your seat before/after tracking or just driving it around w/ a bucket seat would seem to be extremely tedious after awhile. Anti-roll bars will change the handling quite a bit but, you could just leave them one and still drive as is both before and after.
But as a few have stated. if you're going to track. I would say just save up and get a track car. I've known a few people who have torn up their daily drivers going the route you are.
