Re: lease
39 month lease, 36,000 miles, $0 down, $630/month. It really sucks to lease a G35 Coupe because of its predicted 50-51% residual value after 3 years. You can get a fully-loaded $44K-$45K BMW 330Ci for the same lease price ($7K more than my G35C), but I went with the G35C because it kicks ***.
Re: lease
$499/month, 48 months, 15k/year mileage, nothing down (just $1200 for trade-in).

Re: lease
uheenada, I signed a lease agreement that states my predicted residual value for my car at 50-51%, so no matter what you say or post for me, until my car hits the used car market, it has a 50-51% residual value after 3 years. That is why my lease price is high and why a BMW 330Ci lease price is low (60-65% residual value after 3 years).
Also, that article is for a 5-year residual value..you can't really give an award to the G35 Coupe's residual value after 5 years when it hasn't even been out for 5 years...it hasn't even been out for 3 years, so you can't really state that, either. My 50-51% residual value for my Infiniti came from Infiniti's average 3-year residual value, which I felt was the most reliable and accurate source.
Edited by MrElussive on 10/28/03 01:36 PM.

JoJo, a few advantage of leasing are:
1. Driving a more expensive car than you can afford.
2. Writing writing of a portion of the lease payment as a business expense in your taxes.
3. Lower Monthly payments and less initial investment.
4.Dealer/Mfr usually absorbs more of the vehicles repair and maintenance costs.
5. Get a new car every 3-4 years
Those are just a few I can think of. But like you said you are building no equity in the vehicle and never really own it. I chose to lease because I am planning to start a business and want the tax write off for the vehicle depreciation since I will use it for my every day driving. Peace.

Re: lease
$525/mo, 15K/yr, 39 mos, $0 down. This includes sales tax. I assume everyone is including that in their figures. Paid me $13,500 for my '97 BMW 528i with 99k miles (intuition told me I was probably facing some major repairs if hadn't dumped). My lease seems more favorable than most I have seen on this board so maybe they planned on making some cash on my bimmer.

Re: lease
RedRok, I like the reason, "Driving a more expensive car than you can afford" lolol.
Typically, purchasing a car is cheaper in the long run than leasing a car. After 3 years, you haven't spent as much money (taking depreciation into consideration). The advantages of leasing are very easy monthly payments, you don't have to deal with selling your car when the time comes to give it back, and nobody knows you don't really own it. Pesronally, it really comes down to whether ownership or leasing is worth it for you or not. This time, it was worth it for me to lease the car, but next time I'd like to buy the car. Why am I going to buy the car next time? Because I want to mod the crap out of my next car, I don't like the mileage "schedule" that you have with a lease, I like the fact that I own the car, and I can sell it whenever I am ready to do so.

Re: lease
gregG35C, how do you figure your terms are better than most you've seen? Did you pocket the 13K they gave you for the bimmer or did they use that to "lower" your lease payment? Just curious.

Re: lease
What about just taking a 6 year loan if monthly payments are the problem? You will still need to keep the car for probably 3 or 4 years to have enough equity to sell it but it's much more simple and flexible than a lease. Look what I figured:
38k fully loaded g + ct tax, conveyence, reg= 40640 - 4k down = 36640
A 6 year loan payment for that amount at 5% (the current capital one rate) is $590.
IMHO that compares favorably to some of your lease rates and it's so much more straitforward and flexible...

Re: lease
Drummer: The $13,500 went into my pocket. They took it off my hands. Maybe they made a touch on the bimmer on resale though because it was loaded. I hope so. I did not want to fool with the whole classifieds thing. A guy from a town close by called me after I had my Coupe for about 2 weeks and was thinking about buying the bimmer so they did probably shop it around. Really had nothing to do with payment because first day I test drove the Coupe, my excellent salesman (how often can you say that?) had just done a similiar deal a few days before and mentioned it to me before we discussed any sale of my bimmer. Sounded very fair so I said match it, find what I want and you have a deal. Found one for me within a week. Very pleasant experience. My old BMW salesman, on the other hand, offered me maybe $11-12k cash and would not deal on 330Ci/Sport/Premium. Really put me off as it would have been the third purchase from same BMW guy.Got about $600 off msrp my G35C as base for lease. I have been seeing high $500s/mo and $600s/mo with same $0 down in the threads, so $525 includ tax seems to better those deals. Very happy went with Infiniti, better deal and looks, power, and dealer experience. If you live around East Tennessee, I'll be happy to give you the name of my salesman.
