I did the same dude. I dynamatted the trunk lid ENTIRELY and after I was done, I shut it and couldn't open it again. (I accidentally hit the switch in the glove box before I started the Dyanamat) I was so ticked off that I ripped all the Dynamat off, yelled at the car, drove to the stealership and scheduled service to check it out or fix it. They only had an appointment a few days in advance, so I scheduled it anyway. Went home and messed with the car, found the switch and said, OMG! So who's the DUMBARSE now?!
So I had to re-do the whole trunk for nothing. ( I can't believe I am admitting this...)

Just an FYI. Not sure if it is the case here, but here is what has been happening with my G. last year I could not longer open the trunk. Checked all that applied nothing worked. Took it to the dealer they told me that one of the wires that comes out from the body into the trunk on the right side covered in the rubber tube broke and was not sending the signal. Fixed it under warranty.
Now same problem again. Took it to the same dealer they tell me another wire broke in the same spot. I am out of warranty and 1 week past 12000/12 month from the last repair. WTF. I ask them how is that that the wire breaks there. How was it not designed accordingly. Keep in mind I used this car as a pleasure car, my main transportation is my bike. I open and close the lid maybe 2 times a month. And the car is only 4 years old. I am at the point where I am ready to sell the damn thing and get the Yugo. At least I wont be that upset if it breaks.
Today will be calling Infinity to see how much they care about their customers. My first Infinity and I am frankly not a happy camper.
