I was too. 5.5 to 60 and mid 14's is way too fast for a 16 year old. I wwas a maniac at that age with my 130 hp Pontiac 6000 and 170 hp Bonneville. In hindsight, its probably a good idea that I didn't have 260 - 300 RWD HP starting out.

Its fast if you wanna make it fast by pushing it. Personally, I dont think any 16 year old should be learning and driving on this car.

I first started driving a sh!tty white mini-van

ya im 16 right now with my car. I learned to drive with parents cars and learned to drive stick on a jeep which made it a lot of help. I've been driving almost a year and havn't gotten close to an accident. i dont show it off although people are jealous at school although kids pull up in bmw's, cobra, camaro and other fast cars. I think its just fine to have since it isn't a lot of power and if your responsible you'll be fine

I think it would have to depend if the kids a moron or not... I was 18 and I thought I was untouchable on the road when I got my G, but I quickly found out that a wall of trees implanted into the side of my G was not cool... six months and $18,000 later... I have to say Ive learned to really respect the car and not goof around anymore... hopefully this kid can learn from me... peace!

I think that another thing that people are overlooking is the fact that the g35 coupe is a RWD car. It is much better for a 16yr old to learn to drive with a FWD car first to be able to learn to control a car more. In the rain, the coupe is terrible, I think:
RWD + RAIN + 16yr old's first car = accident
My parents bought me a brand spanking new 01 330ci on my 16th bday. I have never gotten a speeding ticket or an accident until this year (with the gcoupe). I ended up wrecking the bimmer because I slipped on the highway doig about 68 in heavy rain (just 2 months after getting the car). Rents sold the car, and put me in a Camry :P Then I buy my coupe

im 18 and i started off with the 06 mustang that i got at 17, i only had that for a few months and my dad wanted to trade it in for a G which is what i have now. Its a great car if you can control yourself. I know that it sucks in the rain especially with stock tires, found that out when i ended up drifting around a corner while barely touching the pedal. Does it have too much HP for a 16 year old, probably, but if he can be responsible and not drive like a madman its fine. If you have the urge to race, go to the track.

Quote: Gee35koop, you're right, it depends on the 16 year old and their mentality. But wouldn't you agree that the large majority of 16 year olds don't have the maturity level to drive such a powerful car safely? Think of all the peer pressure he'll potentially face. Any car can be driven fast and crashed, but it'll cost a lot more to repair a wrecked G than it would a wrecked Toyota.
Yeah, you're right.
Peer pressure is tough..."come on just go a little faster"...I probably couldn't have handled a powerfull car like the G when I was 16 yrs old. I can barely handle it now
Difficult decsion, but a lucky kid if you get 'em a G!

bro, alot of ppl on these boards are going to hate on you saying **** like 'o ur parents are paying for it u dont deserve it' etc, **** them. However, the real thing is maturity. When you get a better than average looking car and and a car that is faster than most, you would be tempted to 'flaunt' it for your friends and people at school because they arent as fortunate as you... which is a nice feeling; BUT so many people get into accidents when they start driving and thats just natural, everyone gets into accidents and those that dont have gaurdian angels. Honestly if i had to do it again, I would go for the civic coupe, because if you wreck your G, your parents would be stupid to get you a new one right away, you will get some junker to move around and ppl will laugh at you which wouldnt be that great
