hood dampers?

i am a bit confused...if you get dampers such as tein...will that mean you dont have to use that slim support bar at the fron of the engine bay to support the hood?will the hood stay up on its own with the 2 dampers?also will they work on carbon fiber hoods?

I can get my hands on two toyota supra hood dampers but was told it might be too much force for the lighter g35 hood. Im thinkin about running 1 on the right side. can anyone post a pic of there aftermarket damper for the g35, tein ts etc.
